This is objectively true, but I think it misses the point. Men with gender dysphoria are a tiny proportion of the population and have little to no political power or leverage of their own. They have, after all, always been around but until very recently were either ignored or treated with contempt and/or ridicule.

I think the men in the past pretending to be women were open about being transvestites and that it was a fetish for them, but none actually claimed they are women, something absurd and impossible.

I don't think gender dysphoria is the greatest driver amongst the current men who identify as trans, I'd argue autogynophilia is, although it's perhaps true for women and we've seen other fads where women have attempted to escape their bodies (anorexia craze). Still, even if it is gender dysphoria, that's a mental illness that needs to be treated with the acceptance of reality as it is, rather than celebrating wishful thinking. I'd love to identify as a millionaire so I can stop worrying about how I'm gonna figure out my rent each month, but no amount of pretending will make that happen, as it won't for those who pretend to be the opposite sex.

So what changed? The politics of the ‘progressive’ liberal middle class changed

Big money is behind this movement that's being pushed by straight and gay men and a couple of creepy billionaires who identify as women. Then there's Big Pharma making a killing on prescribing unnecessary meds on children who become life-long patients, as well as the disgusting mutilating surgery.

So if you want to understand trans people and their relationship with socialism outside of a British context, more information is needed.

I understand "trans people" and their dysphoria and delusions but I don't go along with it because I'm not really into cults, especially harmful ones like these.
