I consider this to be a symptom of social engineering. Perhaps this is one side-effect of our modern technologies and the way we currently organize time/space, we're intentionally (social engineering) and unintentionally (naturally occurring phenomena) increasing radiation levels. As we (the unthinking majority) sleep-walk through our evolution, we will castrate our biological reproductive system because post-electric society will depend on intelligent selection and the scientific method for sustainable growth. Colony collapse will be prevented by Technocratic policies. The Technocracy must strip individuals of their biological independence so populations will need a surrogate state for procreation. If you want an example, look at agriculture- for years we depleted our soil and micro-managed propagation, and now we primarily use scientifically modified growing media in order to grow our crops. Building up healthy soil or biologically sustainable growing media can take several years (I know from personal experience), and it is easier and faster for us to manufacture soil in a laboratory. See, bio-electronic man is speeding up everything, so we must keep pace with exponential growth as we approach our evolutionary rapture. Human populations must be managed like plants in a greenhouse, because science and our idea of progress/evolution demand it (so we think-therefore believe). The planet is now being treated like a greenhouse, complete with weather modification and seed vaults. We need safety nets and insurance policies in place just in case we screw up. Alas, I'm not worried because we have a nice supply of genetic material to work with.

Now, am I saying this is a bad or good process... No. I'm saying that we're a post-natural selection species (as far as living on Earth goes) and we've abolished natural selection within our cradle planet. The master builders of the human race are looking to break-away and embrace the next frontier, space. Of course, we must take planet Earth with us in order to survive, thus we're gearing up for the harvest and getting the planet ready for post-earth civilization. Post-earth civilization will need genetic-engineering technology, telepathic communication systems, artificially intelligent robotics (do you really think AI and robots are being designed for personal enjoyment?), and superluminal transportation. Right now, we need to keep the planet distracted as we develop the appropriate technologies to leave Earth. This is why Capitalism (in some shape or form) is still in use to today (as an operating system), it is the most efficient way for our leaders to motivate and distract profane somnambulists. Global theatre, in form of dialectical politics/war occupy the exoteric field of information and help to maintain THE ORDER of THINGS, while all forms of human intelligence can be wisely extracted and used for the esoteric evolution of Man. The end goal is not communism, capitalism, or any form of tribal awareness. The end goal is purely scientific, and the Earth becomes expendable once we are capable of seeding planets in space. Nonetheless, I think we should be careful, and explore with caution... We wouldn't want to start over like last time. If I remember correctly, we tried this before, and our host planet didn't survive our evolutionary rapture.

Main point- Falling sperm counts = collateral damage of evolution.
Footnote- I do enjoy reading exoteric contention, and it is very pleasing to note how short your lifespan is; whatever personal opinion you hold, you will not change the course of our evolution :) Dust returns to the ground, and stars return to the cosmos.

To my homies in high place, I wish you all the best of luck
May we blast the blackness with THE DIVINE SPARK
If you take an honest look, we have safe healthy lives. Our biggest problem is our own tendency to accept hysteria over reality. This is created by our abundance and humans crave problems to solve. The fewer problems we have, the more we will invent.

Very true. We are, mostly, bored.

I am not anxious about falling sperm counts. Nobody is counting mine anyway. This is a tempest in a teapot.

I am concerned about cures for diseases. I am the thing I am most concerned about not having to replace.
We clearly have no problem with fertility. For impregnation, all is needed is a single sperm. A single ejaculation contains millions of them. Thus halved sperm count most likely has no important effect on fertility (yet, anyway), as long as the sperms themselves function properly.

People dont want children in industrialized countries because children are a luxury there - many people are de facto working poor because they have children.

While people in the third world want children because they have no pensions there. Thus in these countries getting children is the only way to make sure somebody will care for you if you're old.

Thus just give people in the third world a good pension system and make sure that people who have children are disadvantaged like in industrialized countries, and after some decades it takes for people to catch on you'll see the same development as in industrialized countries. In fact looking at the numbers from France the first condition is probably sufficient - France has pretty good support for families. While Germany is probably one of the least child friendly countries in the world. I have no clue about Japan.

About the reasons for the lowered sperm count itself, well theres just not enough details given.

I can think of a number of possible reasons:

- The crap the industry (with the very active help of our politicians) wants us to eat. Thats actually my prime suspect because thats a main difference to asia.

- The clothing (namely far too uncomfortable trousers for men) the fashion industry wants us to wear.

1. Totally makes sense. Also you shouldnt run often because that will make you lose your running muscles.

2. Porn has been around literally since the very moment photography was invented. In all countries.

3. This development started long before the internet.

4. You seriously claim that people in asia do less porn and masturbation ?!? LOL

5. Statistically people who have more sex keep their sex drive for a longer time.

Actually it requires thousands of sperm banging against an egg to weaken the membrane to the point where one can penetrate it and fertilise it. Those with sperm counts below 4,000 (I can't remember the exact number) are infertile and there are attempts to develop contraceptives that work by reducing sperm counts.

Yes. Because they have tiny hands and penises. It can't be as pleasurable as we westerners who have large hands and penises. (Well except you know who....)
In all seriousness I think there could be a Mossad connection here, it is interesting that sperm counts in Europe have declined so rapidly since Israel was founded. Isn't that interesting? What is even more interesting is the fact that no one in the media reports this fact, it seems that their masters don't allow them to give us the real news but just distracting reality TV nonsense.
I think Decky is on to something. Everyone knows that Israel is interested in becoming a world power but does not have enough people to do it. So the powerful people are in the west. Reduce the west and become more powerful. Then there is this.

Tight jeans cause lower sperm counts. Everyone knows that. And what is the name of these jeans? Levi. Is there a more Israeli name than Levi? Coincidence? I think not.

Then there is bike riding. Really bad for the little guys. Little flat headed sperm are not good swimmers. And what is the biggest bike company in America? Schwinn! And who owns Schwinn? Doral Industries. And who runs Doral industries? Martin Schwartz (CEO)
Alan Schwartz. Jeffrey Schwartz, Jeff Segel. Need I say more. Are they Mossad? Well you know the Mossad's sense of humor. Black operation....Schwartz....just saying.

Rat testicular impairment induced by electromagnetic radiation from a conventional cellular telephone

RESULTS: There was a significant increase in the diameter of the seminiferous tubules with a disorganized seminiferous tubule sperm cycle interruption in the electromagnetism-exposed group. The serum and testicular tissue conjugated diene, lipid hydroperoxide, and catalase activities increased 3-fold, whereas the total serum and testicular tissue glutathione and glutathione peroxidase levels decreased 3-5 fold in the electromagnetism-exposed animals.
CONCLUSION: Our results indicate that the adverse effect of the generated electromagnetic frequency had a negative impact on testicular architecture and enzymatic activity.

Please note, added electromagnetic radiation is an important aspect of modern society. Sperm counts among western men have halved in last 40 years.

Furthermore, Oxidative stress may explain the uptick in neurodegenerative disease...

Glutathione peroxidase (GPx) (EC is the general name of an enzyme family with peroxidase activity whose main biological role is to protect the organism from oxidative damage.

The Role of Oxidative Stress in Neurodegenerative Diseases

Oxidative stress is induced by an imbalanced redox states, involving either excessive generation of reactive oxygen species (ROS) or dysfunction of the antioxidant system. The brain is one of organs especially vulnerable to the effects of ROS because of its high oxygen demand and its abundance of peroxidation-susceptible lipid cells. Previous studies have demonstrated that oxidative stress plays a central role in a common pathophysiology of neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.

There are so many possible causes and risk factors that it makes me think it's a civilisational problem. Highly developed civilisation makes us live longer and less fertile, I guess.

Mayo Clinic wrote:Prevention

To protect your fertility, avoid known factors that can affect sperm count and quality. For example:

  • Don't smoke.
  • Limit or abstain from alcohol.
  • Steer clear of illicit drugs.
  • Talk to your doctor about medications that can affect sperm count.
  • Maintain a healthy weight.
  • Avoid heat.
  • Manage stress.
  • Avoid exposure to pesticides, heavy metals and other toxins.
