Florida today raised the age to buy a firearm to 21. They also imposed a three day waiting period. Sadly the bill did not ban assault weapons. It did authorize the arming of teachers. All in all it is a pathetic sell out to the NRA.

Sad wimpy fuckers.

Exactly.

Hillary used universal health care as a talking point aimed at branding her as somehow "left."

But she only did this when she had no real power to affect change.

As president, she'd be bombing nations and lying to everyone about climate change for four years.

Perhaps this is why kids are shooting up their schools: because they aren't teaching them what is really going on in the world, and they know this ignorance will be fatal for them?

(clutches at straws and hopes the thread is back on subject)

Stormsmith wrote:Hillary tried to advance universal health care during the 1990s. The Republicans and the Pharmaceutical industry beat her badly. At that time I think Americans were unaware of the ramifications of the health care issues, except they complained bitterly about greedy HMO's. Ultimately she abandoned it, but soldiered on and brought children's health care to be apart of national health care. I don't think she'd continue to advance ACA. She'd go back to a single payer or universal sytem, I'd speculate. Today she'd get the social support she lacked 25 years ago.

Bernie might have too. I worry a little about him. He blathers on about Canada's pharmaceutical policies, based on our lower prices. If he could be arsed to look up Jack Squat he'd learn were the second worst in the world. Not a great recommendation, I'd say, since it's in the news continously

Ultimately, somebody will get them health care, and she was the best shot at it in 2016.

2008 would have been a good year for some kind-heartedly-branded politician (like Obama) to introduce universal health care. Or strict gun control. Or to stop imperial wars. Or...

But instead, the First-Black-prez-brand gave the entire year's taxes to crooked banksters so they could stay on top of American politics.

And you still think that this system just needs to be tweaked a bit? That Hillary is a woman and therefore cares about the little people?

Hezbollah will bring single-payer to the USA long before either of the current American mainstream oligarchy-parties. Hezbollah actually has "helping the little guy" as their platform.

(Same with gun control. Hezbollah or Hamas have the collective good of everyone in their mission statements)

To be fair, he tried and did the best with what the system would authorize.

And also to be fair, the recession did quickly turn around and some (not enough) banking regulations were put in place.

I'm not bothered whether they care about us or want the accolades that go with being sited as the guy/ ess who achieved. It's about getting it, like all other counties, which in the main was at the hand of a politician .

Many of those voters were illegal immigrants that should not have been allowed to vote, but we know how the Democrats protect their illegal immigrants and register them to vote under their motor voter policies.

That's false, and there is absolutely no evidence to support this statement. More lies from the religious alt-right.

Isn't 'Thou shall not bear false witness' a commandment any more?

Remember Godstud. It is not a lie if you actually believe it. If you believe it in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary it is either racism or stupidity. Or both.

@Drlee you are absolutely correct. Thanks for clearing things up.

Still no evidence, @Suntzu. Nothing to support such fake allegations.

Quite the opposite:

Reality Check: Did millions vote illegally in the US?
There is no evidence to support the assertion that at least 2.86 million people voted illegally.

Trump’s Bogus Voter Fraud Claims Revisited
In fact, voting experts we talked to pointed to numerous studies that have found such in-person voter fraud — the type of fraud Trump is alleging — is virtually nonexistent. A Government Accountability Office report released in October 2014 said that “no apparent cases of in-person voter impersonation [were] charged by DOJ’s Criminal Division or by U.S. Attorney’s offices anywhere in the United States from 2004 through July 3, 2014.”

So Drlee is correct yet again.

You're not being "fair" here. You're being a passive lemming.

The TV said it was okay that Obama gave a year's worth of taxes to the crooks who are top of your system, and now, you call that "being fair." Why not give a year's worth of taxes to drug cartels next time? Maybe they'll stop shooting up your malls and playgrounds if you bribe them?
