Less than a month out from it.

I'm thinking Shorten might win this time. My late dad would be happy, he was a die hard one eyed Labor voter.

Personally, since I don't give a shit who knows who I vote for. My (Preference based) vote is going to Clive Palmer's United Australia Party, then One Nation, then the Liberals, then the Labor Party, then the DLP, minor right wing parties, then left wing parties, then the Greens will go last as usual.

Fuck The Greens.

I've decided already Palmer needs to go back into the Senate.... He's got the right ideas for the average Australia.

He's running on a MAGA-inspired platform.

So it's coming up.

Personally voting early. Voting Tommorow.

My Seat:
https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-04-18/chisholm-seat-profile-gladys-liu-jennifer-yang-history-making/11023902

I'm voting for the Chinese woman! Lol!

;)

P.S. This seat and general area has been drifting towards being dominated by Chinese Australians, specifically Cantonese mostly, for nearly 30 years, it was going to happen one day. This election is the day.

Whatever I am technically half-one myself.

Race Traitor.

On a totally unrelated and off-topic note, we must secure a future for all white chocolate.

I'm going to vote for either Liberal Democrat candidates or One Nation. Haven't decided yet. They have identical policies basically, One Nation just happens to be a little more racially focused.

Went as planned. Pretty much voted as above, but surprised to see the Derryn Hinch party on the ballot so put them above Labor.

I doubt my seat will remain Liberal as Julia Banks screwed things right up, not even running for independent re-election in the same seat and Chisolm voters will probably turf them as a result for Labor. Swing seat so expecting it to go to Labor.

I'm dissatisfied and even angry no major political party this election has announced their position on the Julian Assange situation.

I hope United Australia Party takes a few lower house seats! Palmer's massive blanket advertising campaign was brilliant. Felt like there was equal left-right level of advertising this time(usually we're stuck with Labor and the Union ads everywhere in Melbourne!).

Hope it pays off for him! Actually supported his candidates this time. Put his candidate first but as I preferenced Liberal over Labor and that's how our system works, technically voted for the Liberal candidate.

Abbott looked almost relieved. Well, the women around him anyway..

Labor was going to change old people’s franking credit regime. Moral of the story? Don’t mess with old people.

The actual moral of the story is this:

Having a preference deal with a like-minded smaller party that is led by a mining Billionaire that intends on also spending $80 million dollars for commercials trashing your opponent daily, effectively resulting in a blanket anti-Shorten advertising campaign just might help save your ass from being turfed.

Seriously how could anyone think Shorten would win when for a welcome change the Right-wing parties were dominating the commercials left, right and centre.

Clive Palmer's UAP saved the Liberals and so did One Nation too.

this has been happening all over the world lately
leftist media has failed again :D

No, The polls were actually correct for most states. But surprise Queensland success for Palmer's United Australia Party and Hanson's One Nation has saved the Liberal party from getting turfed due to Preference Voting and a surprise big final day swing.

In every other state the polling was quite accurate. Most people in Australia outside QLD would be surprised at the results.

So far it looks like polls were a little off:

Australia uses a Preference Voting system so trust me, you add most of The Greens and every other left wing party to Labor's total, and you add the UAP + One Nation + other right-wing parties to Liberal Party total.

You'll see the election was actually a fairly close one because the Greens adds roughly 10% to Labor's total.

Samantha Maiden is an idiot. Totally forgetting the Greens add most of the 10.8% to Labor's total. While the coalition only gets a 5%-6% boost.

44.1% to about 47.8%.

Plus the independents or micro parties which are also fairly left leaning. It gets even slightly closer.

Fraser Anning from One Nation has been kicked out of parliament, aside from the Coalition victory. The man who responded to the Christchurch terror attack by blaming the victims did not win enough support to retain his Senate seat. Labor lost the election because of the Chinese poster girl for the campaign. Labor's Jennifer Yang wasn't elected, who contested the seat of Chisholm in Melbourne's eastern suburbs.

Voting is compulsory in Australia and anyone aged over 18 faces a A$20 (£11; $14) fine for not taking part. I think that the Aussie government has a police state mentality because of the country's historical roots, presuming that people are prone to commit crimes without extra security measures and intrusive surveillance.

Actually she IS leading the count for that seat(my seat) by less than 0.5 percent. So you're not correct. The seat has gone down to the wire:

Sounds like Australian cheese makers were selling their wedding and engagement rings to buy guns and gun training courses but when they found out that guns are banned they decided to move to New Zealand, or so they claim.

It looks like the primary vote polls were slightly off (although perhaps within the margin of error):

However, the 2PP polls were less accurate. The actual result is the reverse.

Both graphs use aggregate polling data.

Rumor I saw says that the new Australian PM might declassify Australian involvement in surveillance on Trump's campaign. Along with apparent cooperation in Italy where the heads of the intelligence agencies were asked to resign, this could get interesting. Salt price has collapsed, it's cheaper than popcorn now.

First broken promise already! Coalition NOT going to give the lower-middle class the tax cut in the first year of the next Parliament. OOOHHH!

This is standard for Australian politics. Make promises to get voted in but never do anything you claimed.
