I see once again, Biden and Company are thinking about making a proclamation of a "national climate emergency" to rule by fiat.

That would allow him to make more wild orders from the ivory tower, such as stopping oil and gas drilling, restrict private investment in fossil fuels and redirect our defense industry to ramp up clean energy tech. You know... more Solyndras and creating artificial demand for democrat agendas, because there is no natural demand for their idiocy.

America is racist didn’t work.
Monkeypox isn’t working.
Ukraine stopped working.
Covid stopped working.
Guns didn’t work.
Rich being evil didn’t work.
RvW didn’t work.

November is coming, and the fear is palpable. :)

You didn't mind it when Trump was doing it..

This is nothing new, and a consequence of being like an empire. Way back in the Sixties, Hofstadter wrote about the imperial presidency.

If one had even a marginal contact with the real world, you'd ask how we could rebalance the branches of the government, to restore Congress to what the Founding Fathers intended.

It's not easy, or simple. It is something you'd hate...the cure for autocracy is democracy. See, told ya. Restoring balance means making the country more democratic.

Of course, then you'd have to argue on the merits. Which would be hysterically funny...

Thanks for proving my point.

Btw, you wouldn't know an argument if it bit you on the ass, which happens a few times a day here.

@BlutoSays You like complaining about Biden. Do you complain about every president? If a president did not have a slogan, you would complain about a leader without a cause. Right? A person needs to believe in a cause. Or do you want a silent figurehead? What do you want?

I'll ask again: Do we have a president or a king?

@BlutoSays Are you absolutely thick? USA has Presidents, not Kings. Your last King was before the 1800s. learn your own history, dumbass!!!

We currently have a king. He writes edicts relying executive orders and conjuring up power he doesn't have, rather than adhering to the legislative process. He acts on his own. A king, not a president.

When your last president wrote executive orders, and did exactly the same thing, including trying to destroy your Democracy(more King-like), you cheered. Nice double standard.

How is that different from Trump, Obama, Bush 1 and 2, Clinton, Reagan and so on?

@BlutoSays

Dude, we don't have a king. We have a President. The only one who tried to act like a King was Trump. Republicans want a Republican who is King of America. They don't want checks or balances on a King who just so happens to also be a Republican. But if it's a Democrat that is President, they want that Democrat to be able to do absolutely nothing and have not a bit of Presidential power at all.

Good point, as he has admitted to wanting a Right wing autocracy.

And what is an executive order and what does that mean for a president's power?

General FAQs on Executive Orders
Q: What is an Executive Order?
A: Executive orders are issued by the President of the United States, acting in his capacity as head of the executive branch, directing a federal official or administrative agency to engage in a course of action or refrain from a course of action. They are enforceable to the extent that the represent a valid exercise of the President’s power (i.e. the action must be within the president’s constitutional authority).

Q: Where are Executive Orders mentioned in the U.S. Constitution?
There is no specific provision in the United States Constitution for Executive Orders. However, Section 1 of Article II (the Executive Power) is generally viewed as granting authority for such orders. Section 1 says simply: “The Executive Power shall be vested in a President of the United States of America.”

Also, he does not act on his own. If you were paying attention to other news instead of just Fox and crazy pundits, you would know that Biden signs laws after the House and Senate approves them, like other presidents before him.

Make an actual argument., you know reasons, logic, coherency?

the US has an overly strong executive with wide powers but this is hardly new, sure it probably needs fixing along with a lot of the US political structure, but It's hardly likely anyone about to start agreeing about the changes needed.

@pugsville BlutoSays doesn't make arguments. He only does childish memes. You should know better than to ask the impossible!

Biden announces new climate change programs, but no emergency declaration
CBNC, July 20, 2022

"President Joe Biden announced new executive steps to combat climate change on Wednesday, a move that comes as Democrats urge the administration to issue a climate-emergency declaration amid stalled negotiations over major environmental legislation in Washington.

The initiatives include providing $2.3 billion in funding for a program that helps communities prepare for disasters by expanding flood control and retrofitting buildings, as well as leveraging funding to help low-income families cover heating and cooling costs."

“Since Congress is not acting as it should ... this is an emergency and I will look at it that way,” Biden said. “As president, I’ll use my executive powers to combat the climate crisis in the absence of executive action.”

Climate change will cost U.S. coastal areas twice what analysts had predicted, according to a new study. Researchers had estimated that preparing coastal cities, repairing property damages, and relocating inhabitants for future sea level rise could have a roughly $500 billion price tag by 2100. But storm surge from tropical cyclones can cause additional local rises in sea level rise; that figure hits about $1 trillion, researchers report this month in Climatic Change.

    ….(article continues)

So His Royal Highness Biden has only pledged 2.3% of what will be needed.

I don't care about your studies. The studies you cite are not about science. They're paid in advance to come up with the answer you want them to, to push your political agenda. They're nonsense.

@BlutoSays Those studies are political science. You just don't like what they say, so you dismiss them out of hand. :knife:
