4 islands ( northern territory ) belong to Japan !

The FSB agent suggested that Moscow instead chose to invade Ukraine months later.

"Confidence that the countries would enter the stage of acute confrontation and even war was high. Why Ukraine was chosen for war in the end [the scenario was not changed much] is for others to answer," they wrote.

The whistleblower detailed movements of electronic warfare helicopters targeting Japan, while Moscow 's propaganda machine was also initiated, with a huge push to label Japanese as "Nazis" and "fascists."

...

Kuril Islands

A peace treaty formally ending World War II has never been signed by Russia and Japan, largely because of disputes over a group of islands claimed by Japan, but occupied by Russia.

he Kunashiri, Etorofu, Shikotan and Habomai islands of the Kuril Island chain were seized by the USSR at the end of World War II. Tokyo claims the islands as its "Northern Territories" and the issue has strained relations between Russia and Japan for decades.

According to the FSB agent, a "key stumbling block" between Moscow and Tokyo is the Kuril Islands.

Because of their location between the large Japanese island of Hokkaido and Russia's Kamchatka Peninsula, the islands offer a number of military and political benefits.

"For Japan, there is a cornerstone of its modern geopolitics here: its status as a World War II loser still prevents the Japanese from having an official military force, a foreign intelligence service and a number of other things. For the Land of the Rising Sun, the return of the Kuril Islands would actually mean a revision [or even cancellation] of its postwar status," they wrote.

Probably fake. There is no chance that Russia could achieve dominance in air or sea against Japan. Especially sea. Without that the plan is just not realistic.

Even the most incompetent out of the most incompetent can understand that just looking at really anything if you consider just the size of Japans air force, Navy and anti-air capabilities. Japan can probably beat the whole Russian navy 1 on 1 even if Russia can concentrate all of its fleets there.

White noise that propaganda or Russian disinformation spews need to be seperated from Russian real policy objectives so to speak. This is crucial for our victory over them. That and not underestimating the enemy.

The funny thing about Russia is that it is not as incompetent as it looks. It is also not as competent as it looks so to speak. Otto V B was pretty much on the nail for that one.

So when you post about attack on Japan then I see it clearly as white noise or PSYOPS that you picked up or generated. It confuses analysis. Just for reference, attack on China by Russia is more realistic than attack on Japan since there are relatively no navies involved.

"attack on China by Russia is more realistic than attack on Japan" why do you think so ?

Moscow accepted its role as a minor partner of han- "china", meanwhile Japan for them just a "western " county with weak army but still want some territories from them

To fight China, you don't need a navy which basically is non-existent when it comes to Russia. War, even stupid war, exists in the realm of the possible. Unless you are going to say that Russians are supermen that can swim to Japan or the islands while being shot by Japanese ships and planes then I am not sure how can Russia even attempt to wage any war or conflict vs Japan. It is much simpler to just cross the border with China since it is over land. Not very many chances that it will happen but it is way more realistic.

They do but they are bound by the laws of physics. It is an inescapable fact for everyone.

To be fair China could and did fight back against Russia decently, even 150 years ago when it's at its weakest.
