Monday was the hottest day ever recorded globally, according to data from the US National Centers for Environmental Prediction.

The average global temperature reached 17.01C (62.62F), surpassing the August 2016 record of 16.92C (62.46F) as heatwaves sizzled around the world.

The southern US has been suffering under an intense heat dome in recent weeks. In China, an enduring heatwave continued with temperatures above 35C (95F). North Africa has seen temperatures near 50C (122F).

Even Antarctica, currently in its winter, registered anomalously high temperatures. Ukraine’s Vernadsky Research Base in the white continent’s Argentine Islands recently broke its July temperature record with 8.7C (47.6F).

“This is not a milestone we should be celebrating,” said climate scientist Friederike Otto of the Grantham Institute for Climate Change and the Environment at Imperial College London.

“It’s a death sentence for people and ecosystems.”

Scientists said climate change combined with an emerging El Nino pattern was to blame.

“Unfortunately, it promises to only be the first in a series of new records set this year as increasing emissions of [carbon dioxide] and greenhouse gasses coupled with a growing El Nino event push temperatures to new highs,” said Zeke Hausfather, a research scientist at Berkeley Earth.

On the plus side, we'll hopefully have another really mild winter here in Germany, just like the last one.

1. It has only been possible to measure global temperatures for less than 50 years;
2. Their headlines are based on assuming that the coldest 500-year period in the last 10,000 years was somehow "normal";
3. Land use changes and human heat emissions (especially at night) make temperature readings much higher, with minimal effect on actual temperatures;
4. Warmer global temperatures are broadly beneficial, as is increased atmospheric CO2.

Generally, about climate change the right will do nothing and reject most of the science unless it helps their case of doing nothing, or just make up their own science.

The left will believe whatever science or non-science supports their case, and also exaggerate the science or make up their own science to try to scare people into action. They will automatically blame every extreme weather event on climate change, with or without evidence. They will propagandize and start controlling language like leftwing news outlets calling it "climate crisis" instead of "climate change", which used to be called "global warming". They will then do whatever they can to force others to behave how they want them to in regards to reducing GHG emissions.

Centrists will do nothing and advocate for nothing, thereby supporting the right.

Incorrect. The ones that do nothing and advocate for nothing is the right.
