Robert Urbanek wrote:If Russians are describing Turkey as their old enemy, that may account, in part, for Turkey changing its mind about Sweden joining NATO.

They never changed their mind, they just held back their approval. Erdogan is an opportunist, of course, who sees Russia, especially Putin and his regime, weakening and acts accordingly.

And he is wise to do so. Turkey is not in a position of strength in the world. Not yet, anyway.

Erdogan will obviously side with the winners, that's how we know who's winning ;), especially if they're his strategic allies anyway. I wonder if he ever meant to abandon the West or just took advantage of Putin and Russia when he had the opportunity, however, I'd bet it's always been the latter one. Turkey has its traditional historic place in the world, which is not exactly on Russia's side, especially during another Crimean war. In my opinion from now on his strategy will be to get as much influence in and leverage on Ukraine and the Black Sea region alongside the West at Russia's cost as he can.

As to Putin, he meant to outsmart everyone while overplaying his hand, and now the chickens come home to roost for him.

Erdogan like Pootler is in love with Geo- Politic  He wants to annex central asia . but can´t fix his own inflation  Like putin can´t do what we did 70 years ago
