The Turkish parliament voted Tuesday to approve Sweden’s NATO membership bid, bringing the Nordic country one step closer to joining the military alliance after months of delays.




Of the 346 members of parliament who voted, 287 were in favor of Sweden’s accession and 55 voted to reject it. Four others abstained from voting.

We should have a European armed forces that excludes Turkey and that is independent of the United States. This should be a full spectrum armed forces including strategic nuclear weapons, capable of utterly destroying China. Donald Trump is wise and courageous when he said that Europe should not be hanging off the united States apron strings. Far from being a parasite Europe should be a contributor, I want to see European troops placed in Taiwan and on the Indian border with China.

Whether we dissolve NATO or start again doesn't matter. Turkey must be out. We should be going to war with Turkey to remove them from Cyprus.

It wasn't overthrown, the economy simply failed. The Soviet bureaucracy ran the economy, and it couldn't keep up.

This over simplistic explanation just isn't sufficient. There's no question that the economic contradictions and problems of the 1970s and 1980s in the USSR led to the political crisis. But it largely collapsed because of the political crisis and mishandling of that crisis by the leadership of the Communist Party at that time. I would also argue it collapse as a result of the inability of the Party to mobilize the workers prior to that crisis as well of course.
