Not every other country, only countries that have low personal savings rates because they've promised their citizens tax-funded social services when they retire, which is almost every Western country. Wealth redistribution has negative long term effects on an economy. I don't see any reason for supporting it given it obviously perverts the incentive system that motivates people to be productive and thrifty.
