I agree, which is why I prefer a two-axis measurement to the usual left/middle/right.

Left (Liberal)?

Really?

I find there is a huge distinction between those who are 'leftist' and those who are 'liberal' in America, and it mostly (superficially) has to do with whether the person supports the Democratic Party or not.

Quiz sucks. If libertarians didn't bother with this poppy junk propaganda the world would be a better place.

Seems more like conservatives trying to feel libertarian. Although if it is libertarian propaganda I appreciate the effort.

Why was the poll reset with an "Other" option added? I can understand why you'd want it for most polls, but considering that this one is asking people about where they see themselves along a two-axis graph with all the general options covered, I'm don't see why an "Other" option would be needed or even wanted.
Because it's the Law here. This is what happens when society cannot implement common sense and objectivity. You get mindless rule that makes no sense.

Are you talking about the Left and the Far Left? Because I can think of plenty of supporters of the Democratic Party that aren't Left/Liberal at all.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll remember that in the future.

That's an even more idiotically simple system which will never work in reality.

The DNC isn't 'Liberal' or 'Left wing' (if those terms are going to be used). And these quizes are basically unable to tell the difference between a far Leftist and a Socialist.

Centrist
Your PERSONAL issues Score is 50%
Your ECONOMIC issues Score is 40%

But this test is probably 5% accurate, I voted Libertarian.

That must be a difference in where we live, because I can't.

Also, I found this question to be kind of ridiculous:

Cut taxes and government spending by 50% or more.

First of all, why do taxes and government spending have to be in the same question? Second, given that libertarians consistently argue to cut government spending in the area of welfare or education or health care, I found myself moving towards "disagree." However, I believe that our military spending should be cut drastically, which probably accounts for a 50% in government spending at least, so I found myself moving back toward "agree." This, to me, is the sign of a bad quiz as TIG says.

I always found liberal in the American modern sense to be directly along the lines of the Democratic Party.

^ American Liberal = DNC; DNC = Social Conservative; therefor, American Liberal = Social Conservative.

American Liberal = DNC

Not necessarily. American liberals are more likely to vote Democrat, but that doesn't mean that they are the same thing.

DNC = Social Conservative

Certainly not compared to the opposition party.

Your logic needs work. Per usual.

Let's explore this theory. Basically, the DNC is liberal because they are less conservative than the GOP?

Grassroots wrote:How is the DNC socially conservative? By what standards?

I guess I'm about to go there with Todd.

Um... as I said, we are talking about liberal in the modern American sense. If you have yet another definition, I think my brain is ready to explode.

I never said that they were liberal, I said that your labeling them as "Conservative" was inappropriate. I'd say that the DNC, like the RNC, is more or less Centrist, as our political system is designed to produce. You're the one that made the positive assertion that they were "Conservative".

So, we have two centrist parties with neither one being Liberal or Conservative?

Call it centrist but that, to me, is a meaningless word. Especially when representatives from both of these so-called "centrist" parties have continued the American legacy of subjugation of foreign democratic movements. I find that to be a pretty inherently right-wing policy choice.
