I'm starting to get the sense that people on here are trying to goad me to start posting and debating on here when I really have very little interest in this thread. Being called a coward, a pseudo-intellectual, someone who hasn't done his homework, is probably lying about his education, never been in an academic debate, etc, etc, etc..and all from people I was not talking to when I interjected merely to help people clarify how they speak to each other.....The air is thick with butt-hurt and vitriol on here from all sides, its absolutely delectable.

For the most part, I have posted very little on thread because the topic never really interested me that much to begin with, but I am flattered that there are those here who would like to push me into a fight, it seems, that many here are literally salivating over their keyboards to have a go at me, probably because I have really irked them in some way. Which is fine. You will get your chance someday when you say something that peaks my interest.

As for specific allegations as to this topic "being proven as controversial," that request was so fucking stupid I only regret entertaining it in the first place without first asking for a standard of controversy from my opponent, for even if I posted sources for 10 newspapers stating that this was an issue on their campus from across the united states, which would be easy, the opponent in question would still not be satisfied with that evidence as evidence of a controversy even if I myself found such sufficient. Therefore, @Pants-of-dog, I will concede to you the point that there was no controversy and that this was just all made up.

You can have the satisfaction that there was no controversy per my concession, and I will have the amusement of the controversy generated on this thread as indicative of the reality you would never admit anyway. After all, this has been the most posted-on thread in the opinion-polls sub-forum since the resurrection of Jesus and probably longer than that by now.

All of which is quite amusing from the mainly left-leaning posters who claimed both that there was no controversy and that the right are just a bunch of snow-flake pussies (a term the right has used for the left), but given some of the nasty shit being said to me with ZERO address to my arguments, (and yes, i'm looking at you @Tainari88,) I cannot help but breathe in deep the great fog of irony on this whole thread.

You are all welcome to continue stating your ad-hominems ad infinitum and it will only serve to amuse me. I also read a bunch of socialists in Spanish and some in French. If you don't want to put in the time you can always do the 'cliff notes' versions in which the youtube.com community has a bunch of summation videos for people without that much time but wanting to know what the theory is about @Victoribus Spolia . I. Introduction

Let me just say, that you spend a lot of time writing very critical and vicious accusations about my intelligence and education. I will no longer dismiss such, but will now address your allegations with an equally long and thought-out response in an attempt to extend and olive branch as no one really enjoys reading posts soaked in such loathing.

To start out, all of your post above is based on presumption, not based on any interaction you have had with me or any amount of knowledge about my academic credentials or lack thereof. It seems like you have a desire to, really out of the blue, speak to me in a manner that rings of provocation. Perhaps if I started a thread critiquing post-colonial thought or Edward Said's Orientalism which revealed clearly that I had not read that work at all whatsoever, which you only discovered after cross examination, then I would feel your vicious insults based on presumption would be warranted. As they stand, they are presumptuous and seem oddly vitriolic from my perspective.

II. Personal Defense

So let me go out on a limb, I will attempt transparency, humility, and kindness in response to your nastiness so that we may start on a clean-slate (since you are claiming I have lacked these qualities) Perhaps you may well restore my faith in humanity in your response, which, so long as it anything but nasty, will suffice.

I was required by my education to read Marxist primary source material as a part of my philosophical education, but by no means a massive amount. I am quite transparent about what I have read or not read if people were to JUST ASK ME, which you could have done.

Does this mean that I could specialize in Marxist thought? No, of course not, but to state my reasons for being opposed to Marxism does not require that I have read the entire corpus of Marxist literature any more than being an Atheist is only justifiable after they have read the whole of the Christian theological corpus or even the entire Bible.

I am a 28 year old graduate student, I never claimed anything else, my profile states where I am at academically, my age, and my background and I know my reasons for not being Marxist. Chief among which is that I am an Immaterialist and therefore deny the physicalist paradigm upon which Marxism is built. That, of course, also corresponding to my religious dogmaticism which also precludes Marxism. I also fundamentally deny human equality as either natural, possible, or preferable which also excludes me from the fold.

My familiarity with Marxism, in all honestly, is the variety of Marxism expressed in post-colonial thought and queer studies (especially the work of Judith Butler) because my Ph.D work is based on questions pertaining to European colonialism and human sexuality as they relate to the political and moral trends in human history. This variety of Marxism that I am getting close to saying that I could "specialize" in I would label under the far-right term "Neo-Marxism" or "Cultural Marxism."

These terms are far-right terms, but refer to varieties of Marxism which have concerns far more specific than earlier writers and were influenced especially by Deconstructionism and Performative Theories of gender and sexuality (especially from Michel Foucault). I personally have the two "best known" works of Marx himself and one by Lenin as far as primary sources and the rest of my contact with Marxism proper and Leninism has been through secondary sources and authors. Which I am fine admitting, like I said, I am not a Marx scholar and, for your information, I have asked TiG questions about marxism where I did not know. For instance, I asked him to help me understand where some Marxists claimed that Fascism was the final stage of capitalism in relation to Lenin's claims that the "highest" stage of capitalism was imperialism, to which he kindly obliged and I could link the conversation to you. Likewise, it was TiG, which pointed out that a conversation between him and myself on my first thread was pointless because of our great metaphysical differences. I could also link you that as well. As for Potemkin, he is my master in all things pipe-smoking and fine spirits.

But like I said, I have not, on all of PoFo, started a thread presuming to give a full analytical critique of Marxism or Marxist writings, nor would I, for I only start threads on topics I am really interested in or willing to debate at length based on where I am comfortable knowledge-wise.

Now, if you think that I sound overly bold or abrasive in tone, well that is my nature; however, if you find my positions repellent, that is unfortunate, but not something I can help you with, but you are free to convince me of my errors by plain reason.

III. Proposal For Improved Relations.

What I can say, is that I want to change the way we speak to one another, I am willing to speak kindly to you and interact with you on a scholarly level if you are willing to do the same. You Have My Word.

I am not requiring for someone on PoFo, who makes rough-shod remarks in passing about the far-right, to have read Oswald Spengler's two-volume Decline of The West in its entirety for him to qualify as an informed poster. Nor would I judge such a rough-shod post as indicative or non-indicative of their level of knowledge per se or of their level of education. That would be presumptuous and unnecessary, and ultimately, fruitless.

I want you to see that this is a two-way street and that when I get around to writing my critique of Post-Colonialism and New Defense of Colonialism, I will be sure to to tag you in the conversation and you can judge for yourself what I do or do not know. In the meantime, my future threads will be on metaphysical and ethical topics where my past specializations were grounded.

And Like I said, I just want to have civil dialogue with you, and if you are willing, we can start from here on a clean slate as far this is concerned.

I am Fresh to the program as a whole and will not complete the Ph.D for sometime and only on a part-time basis for the foreseeable future.

VI. Who I Am.

I work Full-Time as an Interior Designer and Run A Small Permaculture-Based Farm and Have Worked As A Certified Contractor and A CNC Machnist/ GMAW-MIG Welder in the past. I Will Be Married Ten Years Next Year and Have Five Children So Far, Ages: 8, 6, 4, 2, 1 (youngest just turned 1 on Tuesday), 3 sons and 2 daughters. I am the former owner and operator on an Intellectual Academic Boarding House housing grad students from South Korea, China, and Panama along with the United States (where I also lectured on western philosophy and sexual ethics). I was also the founder and president of the Student Theological Society at my graduate school and both moderated and participated in debates through that organization. My wife is stay-at-home mother and has education background in video-game design and early child-hood education and is currently a distributor of alternative and homeopathic medicines and remedies. We are Lutherans who recently converted from the Reformed Tradition, about one year ago.

Now you know who I am, what I know, and what my admitted strengths and weaknesses are.
