Careful what you wish for. The UK has put down more continental mad dictators than you've had hot dinners and we aren't done yet, Napoleon, Kaiser Wilhelm, Adolf Hitler...

You know what. I wanted to give a serious reply to this but then i thought why not. Bring it on. ;)

As for the 3 dictators mentioned, UK did not do the majority of the heavy lifting against them.

Decky wrote:It seems you meant to type anti EU there PI. The EU is and always will be an attempt to realise the Kaiser and Hitler's dream of a united Europe ruled from Berlin. What you are describing could only be achieved by destroying the EU and replacing it with a family of free nations (something similar to the Warsaw Pact ideally).

Or like COMECON. Yes we need a European alliance and economic union but they must be decentralised and non-coercive.

What is most important is maintaining internal peace on the European continent and guarding from external threats e.g. USA, China. Consolidation into a single state is not important.

Yeah, reasonable people aren't opposed to a united Europe in principle, it's this particular anti-democratic, corporatist excrescence that's the problem.

If only. The EU is a right wing nationalist capitalist body, the German empire by another name. If it actually was like the Soviet Union I would be a wholehearted supporter of the EU not an enemy of it.

The EU exists to enrich European businessmen and crush European workers, the Soviet Union did the opposite.

You still do not get what Communism was. You want to know what kind of social devastation it caused, as an example look at modern radical times and what anarcho progressive liberals (establishment politicians) are doing today.

Lol, in modern times there are no socialists in Europe (aside form in Belarus) the problems of today are caused by the current ruling class, centre right capitalists (Merkel, May etc). How could you blame socialists for problems on a continent where we have no power whatsoever?

Yes but it's one country. The States are too fucken small to be full countries on their own. Even the big ones like California and Texas.

They need the Union financially, they don't need the fucken massive Washington DC Federal Government to go with it. The government needs to be downsized considerably. Not sure how.

California has a larger economy than the UK, it's the fifth largest in the world. California could easily be a full country. Texas would also do well as an independent state( 10th largest economy in the world by GDP ahead of South Korea and Canada) . But I don't think that's really the solution, the federal government along with the electoral system just needs a radical restructuring.

It needs to be decreased in some areas and expanded in others but the size isn't really the problem. The problem is it's undemocratic. For starters we need more elected positions at the federal level(especially the federal judiciary) and we need initiative, referendum, and recall at the federal level as well.

What's initiative in this context?

That's rubbish actually. There is no minimum size for a state, look at Monaco or Leichtenstein or the Vatican City for that matter.

Texas is bigger than France.

There is a marginal commercial benefit in all your states being linked up by a common overlord and of course there is a significant military benefit too but that is pretty optional as all the small countries of the world can testify.

the initiative is a process that enables citizens to bypass their state legislature by placing proposed statutes and, in some states, constitutional amendments on the ballot. The first state to adopt the initiative was South Dakota in 1898. Since then, 23 other states have included the initiative process in their constitutions, the most recent being Mississippi in 1992. That makes a total of 24 states with an initiative process.

I am against the European Union.

It is a Zionist, neoliberal, capitalist union that supports the United States, Israel, and fought against socialism in the 1960's to the 1990's. One of the reasons why the European Union formed in 1958 is because the United States was to use it against socialism. It was an anti socialist tool used by capitalists and Zionists.
