Who do you believe is the greatest military/poltical men to lead a people?

[Der Freiheitsucher Edit: I corrected the name Davidovich Bronstein to Lev Bronstein and added Marshall Tito for a broader set of choices.]

Who is Davidovich Bronstein? Where are Tito, Ho Chi Minh, Trotsky and Cienfugos?

I voted castro as he is a true socialist and has withstood the capitalists for so long and has improved the quality of life for cubans. I think that all the others could win it but I side with castro because he really has held socialism in tact for so long and has had a successful country.

I don't know why I picked castro over lenin. It was a hard decision but castro has been around strong for so long thats why. Not to say lenin was one of the greatest people ever. He lived his life for the people but it was a tough decision.

No, you're just out of knowledge.

I would vote Ho Chi Minh.

Also, I think you should either stick to revolutionary names, or entirely non-revolutionary names. Having a melange of both seems to be unnecessary and just an attempt to skew the poll.

Dzhugashvili, Ulyanov, Bronshtein etc. or Stalin, Lenin, Trotsky.

I voted for Castros for the same reasons as Gonzo. Is it just me, or was Che not a socialist leader. He may have supported it, and search and worked to greater it, but can he be really called a socialist leader?

Check again kid. In Russian, the first "last" name is an actual composition of your dad's name and the word "vich" (if you're a man) which means son of. Bronstein Davidovich is like saying Smith Son-of-Someone in American last names, while you are missing the name. If you wanted to sound complex, something which you failed at, you should've written Lev Davidovich Bronstein, then in its american variant it would be something like John Son-of-David Smith. The same variant is seen in Greek with the word Polous. Please don't test my patience kid, this is certainly an area I know a lot more than you. Your post was not only a flame-incite but it had nothing to do with the debate. next time i'll delete it.

CHAIRMAN MAO ZEDONG was perhaps one of the greatest, they all contributed equally however I find it that MAO was the greatest.

-My vote goes to Lenin, not only he was the leader of the first successful socialist revolution in history but also was both a political leader and a good theorist too

Lenin should be chosen by all Marxists here. His theoretical and actual work combined are spectacular.Stalin also was great, but he didn't create his own "ism" though. Not to discredit his works, they are brilliant.

Why?

I choose Lenin. Castro has his faults and just doesn't compare to the great mind that was Lenin

these aren't socialist leaders, they are communist leaders. I draw a very big distinction between the two.

Can you put Gorbachev on there? He'd get my vote because he abolished Communism in Russia.

Allthough I'm no communist I have to pick Lenin because he stopped the Russification of Finland and the Russian Revolution gave us a chance to get our independence and we got it.
