I'm opposed to the upcoming Iraqi war. However, I believe that the French refuse to support the war simply because Iraq owes them so much money from all of the equipment built for the Iraqi gov't by the French. If Iraq is attacked, France will never be paid back.

I really don't think it's because of that.. but i am a little bit biased.

The major part of the population (me included) is clearly against war (even if we do not excessively show it, sadly). For our politicians, it's a way to satisfy population, to replace France as an listened player on international scene.

In fact it is the UMP, party of the president, who is affraid for the dollars, and they don't try to hide it. That's strange when you realise that the president and the government are more listening to the opposition than to their party.
