Molly Ivins has another good book about Bush, called Shrub.

She also has a new one coming out.

Good to know the facts of our dictators.

Goldstein wrote:... and the fact that he started developing his anti-semitic ideas after the failed communist revolution in Bavaria.

This is a possible point of debate.

Many feel that the common soldiers of WW I Germany did not accept the fact that Germany lost the war. These fellows felt that Germany had not lost the war, but had been 'stabbed in the back' by the Jews of Germany.

The Marxists and Socialists did stab the German Soldier in the back, the strikes they organized in factories making supplies for the soldiers (gas masks, boots, rifles, helmets blah blah) dramatically worsened trench life and directly caused the deaths of thousands, then later near the end of the war the Reds and Socialists organized strikes against the food and medical supply transports and suppliers!

The execution of Karl Liebknecht and Rosa Luxemburg by the friekorps was called for and logical, they stabbed their country in the back simply to be an ally of Russia...
The 'Revolutionaries' cost Germany the war...

Oh yes, they did quite a lot of backstabbing. But not only the German socialists. The French socialists did it too, the Italians deserted quite a lot in the end of the war.

There were voices in the First Internationale saying "No, there will not be a world war, french workers don't shoot at their german comrades."
It did not quite turn out like that, but backstabbing is the least you can do in that sense.

All in all, the backstabbers probably shortened the war for a few months or weeks and made it at least a tiny bit less cruel (because army had less resources).
