I think it's impossible, given the self-collapse of North Korea regime seems unlikely, we should either hold the potential threats in Northeastern Asia forever or end it with a war.

I prefer the latter, since it should come sooner or later. It at least solves the problem.

You need to sign up. We'll put a bayonet in your teeth and send you to the front.

Having said already, like it or not, a war is at least a solution on the table. So may I have your better solution then, except laughing?

I'm too old to join the army even if I wish, but I'd like to donate for the military actions if it does take place, which is my stance. How about yours?

Igor Antunov wrote:No need to sign up. Nothing stops NK from shipping a few warheads to key US port cities by a variety of means and setting them off. That war would come to you.

Exactly, The US as well as many western ally countries would increasingly fare under the threat of NK's nuclear weapon. The later we take action, the more they are able to advance their equipment, the more serious price we are going to pay then.

Getting China to assassinate Kim and his most trusted lieutenants, while making those deaths look accidental would probably be the ideal solution...
Now, the problem is... why should China do it? In the end this is something that China has to be involved with if more serious consequences are to be avoided so... if NK is such a big problem for USA, they need to gauge what's more costy, an open war with NK or giving something to China so THEY solve the problem discretely?

That's true. As described in a report from BBC, facing the choice between retaining North Korea regime as a nuclear tension in Korean Peninsula, and letting US/South Korean force move onto China's border, the Chinese communist would undoubtedly choose the former. Any illusion to expect China to weaken the North Korea turns out to be naive. I don't know why those leaders of US/Australia keep begging Xi Jinping whereas even a fool could understand "Lord Xi" won't follow them.

Kim Jong On got 2 Ace cards in hands: one is to take people in Seoul (less than 100km away from the border) as hostages, as they can easily kill most of them with conventional weapons if he wishes. Another is the support from China, they know Chinese communist can't survive without the existence of North Korea even if they know China dislikes them - China just has no choice.

If we do not conceive any better ideas (such as to move South Korean residents to somewhere else beforehand) , the NK regime can easily play the world forever.

Preemptive strike with nuclear ground penetrators and MOABS on the area NW of Seoul. That would take away Li'l Kim's biggest trump card.

If I was the Donald I'd have done it already. Triflin' with a Korean Rapper is pointless. My fortune cookie said so.

I do think it's the best time to get rid of North Korea by force right now. Trump doesn't seem as aggressive as someone thought.

It's really convenient to have a tiny country on the other side of the world that no one goes to... in order to blame all of America's problems on someone other than its leadership.

Trump could nuke an American city (to stop a competitor's casino) and then blame it on North Korea and then flatten that innocent nation on TV for cheers and popular support.

Thing is, the generalized stupidity that is necessary to get Americans to believe the "North Korean menace" story is destructive on its own. There can be no working class solidarity or social progress as long as the average person believes in Santa Clause and the Devil, rather than believing in equality of opportunity and income.
