For what???

For sending stupid tweets about starting a war?

Trump's done fuck all to facilitate peace between S. Korea and N. Korea and even went so far as to tell S. Korea not to meet with N. Korea.

Might as well give him one, they pretty much give it to anyone. When they awarded it to Henry Kissinger it lost all meaning. But I don't think Trump's saber rattling belligerence merits that sort of recognition. Peace is being achieved in spite of Trump, not because of him.

It ended. They just refused to formalize it. Taking 60 years to accept an accomplished fact is not praiseworthy.

The Nobel Peace Prize is already a completely ridiculous institution, having already been won by Henry Kissinger for ending a war he didn't end, Elihu Root for annexing the Philippines, and Barack Obama for saying "hope" and "change" a lot. Giving it to Trump would hardly make its reputation sink any lower.

That would be a fair award, he grasped the initiative. If Kim meets him halfway and they produce results, I think a joint award is possible. It would be a meaningful and courageous leap for N Korea.

Trump's firing of Tillerson sort of removes the US from contention I think. The former secretary may well have been a vital component in the creation of Moon's proposal, but his absence leaves Moon and Kim standing alone.

Beren wrote:No, it's not. Moon will be awarded as mediator and dealmaker while Trump and Kim will be considered warmongers threatening each other with nukes.

Certainly possible ... But considering the attitudes of the Nobel committee, if Kim renounces nukes, a joint award might be inevitable.
