You over-estimate what one country in the world can do, even if it has the most powerful military(on it's own). Remember what happened to Nazi Germany?

I am very realistic about the US military. It is indeed the mightiest war machine to ever exist on earth. The only problem with it is that you simply can't rule the world like that, in this modern age of technology and information.

The U.S. military is really quite small at 10 divisions, maybe 12 with the Marines. What we have that makes us nearly invulnerable is oceans on both sides. The U.S. has 5 different power grids. Hell Texas has its own. Most businesses and many homes have organic backup generators.

Furthermore, what happen years ago doesn't matter when we're talking about the present. Furthermore, we're talking about a situation that has never happened before in human history and that is every single country on earth other than one in a war with each other. That makes all other comparisons moot since there is no possible comparison to be made. Pretty much every single military strategist would tell you if the world united against the US in a military conflict, the world would win if not just for the overwhelming amount of forces this coalition would have disregarding coordination, shared technology, the wide variety of strategies that can be employed which would decimate the US army, and the finances such a coalition would have access to.

Except that the objective of the US in regards to Iran is to either get money from it or institute regime change; both of these objectives are moot if you nuke Iran. Also if the US nukes Iran or anywhere around it, China and Russia would go ballistic as would every single other country in the world. You are right, wiping Iraq and Afghanistan is no big deal. We whipped Vietnam, too, won every battle. But as with any occupation, one has the choice of staying forever or leaving.
