Speaking of bias, these media and fact checking sites are usually overwhelmingly staffed by left leaning people living in an ideological mono-culture which easily leads to bias, so left leaning media generally fares better in their assessments.

Presvias wrote:As for the claims in the article, big tobacco and Islamophobes criticising a 16 year old girl trying to raise a bit of awareness? Need I say more.

Yes, you do. Do you have identified any false claims in the article and where does it "witheringly attack" a 16-year-old girl?

The surplus carbon in the atmosphere is lacking in soil because chemical farming feeds farming soils with synthetic fertilizers (in addition to a wide range of toxic agrochemicals) instead of organic matter for building humus and for increasing the natural fertility of soil. Thus, everything is connected. The natural fertility of humus-rich soil (= carbon-rich) produces healthy and nutrient dense food while improving soil, water retention, biodiversity, and at the same time providing clean water, air and a well-tended environment, etc. All the while, CO2 sequestered from the atmosphere by plants is stored in soil. Soil has the capacity to store several times the CO2 in the atmosphere. It's all a matter of land-management.

I watched Gretas address to Congress. There is something very other worldly about that young lady giving her a certain gravitas. Almost like she is speaking as an outsider looking in on humanity. She has great poise and wisdom beyond her years. We’d all best hope she is wrong.

Can you point to any global warming/climate change solution that specifically address the problem of contaminated food, water and/or air?

So you completely ignored my point and introduced a whole new argument.

Are you now abandoning the argument that climate change is a hoax because money and capital are involved?

She's not right or wrong, she's a clueless child who doesn't know shit about shit. Greta doesn't know the first thing about the science, the economics, or the politics. It's just a mass propaganda campaign to stoke retard hysteria, it's not something anybody with a lick sense takes seriously.

Oh right, the guardian is ultra leftist is it? That's factual?

When you make absurd claims like that, and use an article that's backed by big biz; criticising a girl for being onboard with big biz..it removes their legitimacy completely.

But you have shown that you are rather one track minded when it comes to attacking all moderately left causes, so the unbiased thing is wholly laughable.

I watched it too. What I saw was a 16 year old girl with autism who was well out of her depth. She did do the right thing and refer people to the experts.

Anyway, it doesn’t matter. There is no way your species will avoid the consequences of changing the environment away from conditions suitable to sustain human life. Nor is there any way your species can avoid this environmental impact. You can’t sustain 7 billion people without industrialism. You can’t avoid climate change even if emissions were down to a few percent of current levels. Your species is doomed.

But it is not all bad news. There is transhumanism, AI and self replicating robotics. After all, life is a self perpetuating information system. It doesn’t have to continue in it’s current biological form. Forget about the sentient monkeys. Soon they will have served their purpose.

Are you some kind of alien?

I just found out my son participated in a protest for climate change yesterday. I should have driven buy and splashed motor oil on all of those kids.

It's certainly a left wing publication, and insofar as a direct comparison with a magazine such as Standpoint can be made, which ought to exclude news reporting, The Guardian is at least as "extreme".

I also note that you continue to refuse to reply to my questions.

 I was wondering as well.

@foxdemon we need some clarification.

Greta Thunberg is blown away by the global success of her school climate strike movement. Thunberg reminds me of Malala Yousafzai. If Greta Thunberg wins the Nobel Peace Prize, she can break Malala's record as the youngest person to win the Nobel Peace Prize. I think she is more deserving of the honor than Malala. Finally, something positive came out of Sweden after the refugee crisis and the rise of the far right.

Greta Thunberg, the Swedish schoolgirl who has inspired an international movement to fight climate change, has been nominated as a candidate to receive this year's Nobel Peace Prize.

The 16-year-old was nominated by three Norwegian MPs.

If she were to win, she would be the youngest recipient since Pakistan's Malala Yousafzai, who was 17 when she received the prize.

Ms Thunberg tweeted she was "honoured" to receive the nomination:

"We have proposed Greta Thunberg because if we do nothing to halt climate change, it will be the cause of wars, conflict and refugees," Norwegian Socialist MP Freddy Andre Ovstegard told AFP news agency.

"Greta Thunberg has launched a mass movement which I see as a major contribution to peace," he added.

We come in peace, Earthling.

One of your fellow Earthlings seemed to be expressing how impressed they were with an otherworldly, external view of humanity. May as well give him the full Monty, no?

Lol, the guardian is as extreme? They're Islamophobes supported by the tobacco lobby vs a newspaper that's universally rated as moderate liberal at best.

I absolutely do refuse to answer your questions, you expect me to take a hypocritical, Islamophobic publication seriously. Btw it transpires one of their backers is linked to Britebrat which just means I'll never take any claims it makes seriously at all.

Are you going to ask me to refute claims from the daily express next? Or what about the sunday sport?

She's just plain too young.

She should be in school having fun with her friends. Instead she is being Michael Jacksoned by her overbearing parents that probably have bad motives.

It's a valid criticism.

Her age comes into it, as she's almost certainly too young to realise that she's being used by radical anti-capitalist social justice warriors on the one hand and corporate interests which expect to line their pockets with the "green energy revolution" on the other.

That's fine. I was simply wondering if you had found any false claims in the article. Looks like you haven't.

She's basically saying "Science! Believe the scientists" unconditionally just like the #MeToo women says "believe women."

We've been through this over and over. Why are we even still talking about this nonsense?
