There's an old saying in politics: 'As Maine goes, so goes the nation.' It's possible that as the Republican Party goes in Texas, so goes the Republican Party itself. The Texas Republican Party has produced their party platform for 2022. It's available at: https://texasgop.org/wp-content/uploads ... 6-2022.pdf

It is a very interesting read. For those wondering just what the beliefs and tenets of the right wing of the GOP are, it may well serve as a primer.

This poor old country mouse was brought up short by lines 119 & 120 in particular. From that statement, it appears that the Texas GOP would like to turn back the clock, not just conserve that which is. In this instance, the 'clock' is to be turned back to 1911.

All in all, a most interesting document for those not already swaddled in right wing ideology.

Regards, stay safe 'n well.

In order to go back to 1911, you have to go through 1934.

Matt Dowd Warns: Texas Is Showing What Happens If Democracy Is Dismantled 8.5 min. long.

Founder of Country Over Party, Matt Dowd, and writer-at-large for the Bulwark, Tim Miller, react to the Texas GOP with the state party platform it adopted showing what happens now that the “crazy has been let loose” in the Republican Party. By "what happens" he means what will happen in all red states and to a large extent for all Americans.

Matt ends with a warning for businessmen in Texas, "It is only going to get worse."
