Another case of OPD terrorism on Black teenagers in East Oakland

On Friday in East Oakland, the terrorists known as the Oakland Police
Department terrorized three teenage students from the School of Social
Justice for about an hour on their lunch break.

A lot of people thought that the Riders of last year were the only bad
apples in the OPD. Think again. The whole system condones this kind of
behavior in the Black community and has been doing it since most Black
people came to this country in chains. In that era, we called them
slave catchers or overseers instead of cops, pigs and 5-0.

I went up to the School of Social Justice to write a Prisoners of
Conscience Committee People's Report of the incident. As you read it,
I want you to look for the instances of excessive force, kidnapping,
assault and battery, and sexual assault that were committed by
Officers McGuinn, Glover and Sanders. Why is our community, instead of
the holice, the only victims of this kind of violence?

Arsenio is a 15-year-old who weighs 110 pounds. He was the one the
terrorists approached first.

Arsenio: Friday of last week around 12:50 at lunchtime, we were at the
corner store on 82nd and Hillside, and while I was up in the store,
5-0 rolled up on the corner. Then Officer McGuinn grabbed my arm and
threw it behind my back and pushed me out of the store and was like,
"What are you doing, son? What do you got?" He slapped the cuffs on me
and started checking me.

Then my potna, D, was trying to say that we go to the School of Social
Justice. And he (Officer McGuinn) was like, "Shut the fuck up before I
hit you in your fucking face."

While he was searching me, he grabbed my jaw under my chin and
squeezed it hella hard to make me open up my mouth to see if I had
some rocks or something. And while that was happening four or five
other 5-0 cars pulled up, and some task (force) cars. All the 5-0 were
white males.

Then John tried to say something. They slapped the cuffs on him and
slammed him into the car and was like, "Shut up." My potna, D, kept
trying to say something, and 5-0 kept on saying, "Shut the fuck up
before I hit you in your fuckin' face."

Then he asked me my name, and I wouldn't say nothing. After that he
put me in the back of the car and said, "You're going downtown since
you don't want to say nothing." Then he threw him in the back seat.

This was near the school during off-campus lunch. He pulled me back
out of the car and starting searching me again, saying, "I know you
must be dirty. You got something." Then he unbuckled my pants and he
looked at my private area like four times in a row. He looked inside
of my drawers.

When he pulled off, our teacher, Ms. Fuchs, was right there and she
flagged the car down and he pulled over. And she asked him, "Why do
you have my students in the back seat?" He was like, "For loitering."
He was giving her some bullshit, and she tried to get his badge
number, and he was like, "You could go down to the police station and
get that," and then he drove off.

While we were driving around, me and John was in the back seat. He was
like, "What is your problem? Why ain't y'all saying your names or
nothing?" He was like, "I will keep you in this back seat while I go
to eat. I don't care. Y'all can keep sitting in this hot car. I'll
leave you in here until Tuesday."

So we drove around the corner a couple of times. He kept saying, "You
Black N*****, I'm going to hit you in your face. You Black N*****,
shut the fuck up." He kept on saying "Black N*****."

Then I finally said my name, and he said, "(Tell me) what address is
going to pop up before the address pops up (on the computer)?" I
didn't say the address.

Then he saw that my record was clean ? "charlie" (in police lingo). He
said, "That's not your name. You're lying. We're going to take you
anyway." Then John finally said his name. He was charlie, too. He was
like, "You both are lying."

So then he took us to the dead end on 82nd by the creek. I didn't know
what he was about to do. We thought that he was going to beat our ass
or something. The radio in the car said, "All units report to 84th and
Dowling."

That's when he came to 84th and Hillside in front of the school and
was like, "We don't need them, huh?" The other one was like, "No."
Then they let us go. Then the teachers came out smashing on them.

Derek Taylor is a 17-year-old student at the School of Social Justice.

Derek: Me and Arsenio got jacked before this incident by the same task
car. They're jacking all Black people, those with dreads or whatever,
those that "look suspicious." That's how they are doing us out here.

Like he said, they went into the store and grabbed him. I came outside
like, "What are y'all doing? We go to the School of Social Justice. We
got off-campus lunch." He was like, "Shut up, N****, before I punch
you in your fucking face." After he handcuffed Arsenio, then he
handcuffed me.

I asked him, "What did I do?" He was like, "Didn't I say, `Shut up,
N****, before I punch you in your face?'" While I'm handcuffed, he was
going through my pockets, and this is after he physically put his
hands on Arsenio and John. He was disrespecting us in all kinds of
ways. We got rights, too.

John is a 16-year-old student from the School of Social Justice who
lives in the 100s of East Oakland.

John: I done got jacked on a couple of occasions, just for being in
the Town with my folks. They are going to jack you regardless, just
because you are a Black young minority out here. They think that we
are all out here hustling trying to get it. So they're going to jack
us regardless because of the color of our skin.

But on this specific day, it went all bad for us. We're at lunch, and
they hit the corner. They hit the corner like we was out there selling
dope or something, like we're some youngstas out here sitting on "23s"
(23-inch rims) or something.

The whole time the only thing that was running across my mind was just
getting out of this car. That's all I was thinking about. Just let me
go - that's all I wanted for him to do. I was more worried about my
safety and the safety of my potnas more than anything, because we all
could have been victims of police brutality and no one would even know
because we were at the store during our lunch time by ourselves.

Arsenio: He searched me like 10 times. I'm thinking that he is trying
to plant something on me while he was looking in my sock and hella
shit. I'm thinking that he is finna plant something on us and say that
we had something, when we didn't have nothing.

Derek: I was worried about my safety. I was handcuffed, and he kept
looking at me like, "N****, I'm going to punch you in your face."

John: I feel like all of my rights was took. I feel like every time I
see 5-0 I got to watch myself now, just from going through that situation.

I dont know about this journalist. Seems to be a crappy one. First he uses biased terms like terrorist and doesnt even give both sides of the story. This journalist, if you can even call him that should be fired. He obviously doesnt know how to do a news report. If this was indeed happening, an objective covering of it would give the report/news story more credibility. The fact that the officers were not asked to make remarks or the police department quoted shows that this writer was just out to fry some cops. What the "victims" said may of happened and I think the cops should be fired if this is the case, Im not defending this type of behavior just deploring the journalism seen here.
