The War on Geert Wilders (and why it matters)

On January 21, 2009, a Dutch appeals court overturned a previous decision by prosecutors not to charge Dutch MP Geert Wilders (Party for Freedom) for "inciting hatred" and ordered him to stand trial. This comes ten months after Geert Wilders released his film Fitna, an expose of the violent side of Islam.
The film was a source of controversy from the second it was first mentioned to the public. Muslims all over the world condemned the film, threatened Geert Wilders with death and even threatened the Netherlands with terrorism. The Dutch government, along with much of the world, also condemned Fitna. Nevertheless, some Islamic countries boycotted, or even cut ties with, the Netherlands. Others threatened to follow suit. Jordan has even called on Geert Wilders to go there to stand trial – should he do so, he would be arrested and imprisoned immediately.
Both the leftist political establishment of the West and Islamic groups all over the world did everything they could to prevent the release of Fitna. First, all Dutch media refused to air the film. Then, after Mr. Wilders attempted to release the film online, domain registrar and web host Network Solutions suspended his account, thus preventing him from releasing Fitna on his own website! This forced Mr. Wilders to release the film on YouTube and LiveLeak, both of which removed it several times – although LiveLeak issued a statement affirming its support for freedom of speech, but that it was forced to remove Fitna as a result of death threats from Islamic terrorists. Despite all this, Fitna was viewed tens of millions of times within two weeks of its release.
However, this was neither the beginning nor the end of the Mr. Wilders' troubles. In the aftermath of filmmaker Theo Van Gogh's assassination over his production of the film Submission (an expose of the treatment of women under Islam), both Ayaan Hirsi Ali (the writer of the script for Submission, as well as a Dutch MP at the time) and Geert Wilders received death threats, resulting in their placement under heavy security. The twenty four seven security protection is so intrusive on his privacy that Mr. Wilders has said numerous times that he has lost his freedom.
Of course, doing everything possible to prevent the release of Fitna; complete ignorance by the West of the death threats issued against Mr. Wilders; and Dutch prosecution (or rather, persecution) of him for the release of a film that simply quoted verses from Islam's holy text, the Quran, and showed some images and clips of terrorists was all dwarfed by his being banned from Britain in February of 2009. Mr. Wilders had been invited to screen Fitna and speak before the British Parliament by Lord Pearson and Lady Cox.
A campaign by Muslims and leftists in Britain publicly led by Lord Ahmed (who resorted to threats of mass protests and demonstrations) resulted in Mr. Wilders being banned from the island nation. Lord Ahmed has previously invited (without much opposition) terrorist sympathizers and supporters (if not actual terrorists) to the British Parliament. One such case was the invitation of Mahmoud Abu Rideh, a "Palestinian" who had been detained in Britain in December of 2001 on suspicion of fundraising for groups such as Al-Qaeda. Rideh is said to have admitted to traveling in Afghanistan with large amounts of money hidden in a plastic cast on his leg. Ultimately, it was British Home Secretary Jacqui Smith who banned Mr. Wilders from the country. Smith has a reputation for authoritarian measures – specifically, restrictions on freedom of speech and increased surveillance of the general public. Most recently, she has helped create a secret intelligence unit that will spy on individuals and groups opposed to government policies – in short, the British version of the KGB.
These attacks on freedom of speech are all part of a greater campaign against it – and freedom, in general – in the West, that has its roots in the leftist movements of the 1950s and 1960s, which themselves have roots in socialism. Under the banners of "tolerance", anti-"hate speech", anti-"offensive speech", anti-"racist speech", "political correctness" and others along these lines, freedom of speech has slowly been eroded – for patriots and other rightists only, of course. Muslims are allowed to call for the extermination of Jews, for terrorism against the West, for the murder of Western soldiers in Iraq and Afghanistan, for the murder of people like Mr. Wilders, for Shariah Law, for Islamic domination of the world, for the rape of women, for the stoning of young girls, for the beating of women, for genocide, for violence against anyone who dares criticize them in general and so on; without any repercussions. In fact, all of these vile and savage acts are glorified and/or allowed in the Quran – the Islamic holy book! Indeed, as video blogger Pat Condell recently said in one of his videos, "If I talked about Muslims the way their holy book talks about me, I'd be arrested for hate speech".
Yet, the mainstream of the West considers it "hateful" to expose the fact that the Quran is a book of hate, rather than to practice it and thus call for the abolition of free speech, abuse of women, genocide against non-Muslims and the conquest of the non-Muslim world. In other words, the leftist establishment's combined fear and ignorance of Islam has caused them to attack the very values they have long claimed to support and to support the very values they have long claimed to oppose.
Of course, in reality, the left, which is a champion of collectivism, has itself used freedom of speech to gain power and then take it away (or attack it), as in the cases of Nazi Germany, the Soviet Union and Maoist China. Today, Western mainstream media and education systems are dominated by leftists (though not by Nazis, Leninists, Stalinists, or Maoists; but instead, by "modern liberals", "European socialists" and other "milder" socialists). In schools and universities, rightists (and any other supporters of freedoms, individual rights, morals, opportunity and personal responsibility) who voice their opinions are quickly accused of "hate speech", "racism", "intolerance", "generalizing", "extremism" and other such "politically incorrect" "offenses" and then quickly disciplined. Rightist organizations and clubs are also routinely pushed into extinction or prevented from being established, even though pro-terrorist and communist-leaning clubs and organizations never encounter such problems. Similarly, radical leftist guest speakers have no problems with being approved by the administrations of these centers of education, while rightist guest speakers must almost always be paired with leftist speakers in order to "balance the discussion". In the mainstream media, rightists are also silenced, mocked, heavily criticized and of course, accused of various "politically incorrect" "offenses".
The goal of the left – an entirely socialist enterprise today – is to establish a big brother government – preferably on a world scale – where everyone lives equally (in two room apartments, of course), makes equal amounts of money no matter what they do or how well they do it (unless they are the ruling elite, of course) and have freedom of speech (as long as they don't disagree with what the "Great Leaders" say, of course). Thus, their attacks on freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, Western morals, Western ethics, Western culture and nationalism in Western nations; combined with the promotion of foreign ideas, no matter how retarded or savage they may be.
In fact, the leftists and Mohammadians (also known as theocratic fascists) both fully agree on what the future of freedom and liberty should be in every corner of the world. Yet, both use (and have been using for a long time) freedom of speech to gain power. Thus, now that the leftists dominate all the major institutions of all Western nations, freedom of speech is now an obstacle to them. The massive influx of theocratic fascists into Western Europe has provided this leftist ruling elite with a golden opportunity to completely kill off freedom of speech.
Perhaps the only question is which ideology will win in the end: Leftism or Islam? Of course, the answer to this question should not be of any importance to any rightist (and any other freedom-loving person). Regardless of whether leftism wins or Islam wins, we'll end up with collectivism: the arch enemy of freedom.
Right now, freedom is retreating from all sides. Freedom-loving people are too busy arguing over whether they are libertarians, conservatives, rightists (in general), moderates, centrists, classical liberals or whatever else they see themselves as instead of putting aside their differences and uniting against their common enemy: collectivism. Whether it's leftism (and its branches of communism, fascism, "European socialism", "modern liberalism", other forms of socialism and so on), Islam, plutocracy, oligarchy, monarchy or any other form of big government; it's all collectivism. Living under any single one of these collectivist political systems will always leave the common man at the mercy of his leaders, unable to defend himself and his family, unable to speak for himself and unable to prosper.
Make no mistake about it, this isn't just a war for our security or our freedom of speech, this is a war in which defeat means either death or slavery. Thus, whether or not we are killed by which ever collectivist group succeeds is irrelevant, as the free individual within us will be killed no matter what.
Today, as the ruling elite of Western Europe, Canada, Australia and New Zealand continue to smash away at freedom of speech, with America's ruling elite not far behind, Geert Wilders is leading an all-out offensive – all on his own – to stop them dead in their tracks. In a February 23 speech in New York, Mr. Wilders stated: "I propose the withdrawal of all hate speech legislation in Europe. I propose a European First Amendment. In Europe we should defend freedom of speech like you Americans do. In Europe freedom of speech should be extended, instead of restricted."
He concluded the very same speech by declaring: "Our enemies should know: we will never apologize for being free men, we will never bow for the combined forces of Mecca and the left. And we will never surrender. We stand on the shoulders of giants. There is no stronger power than the force of free men fighting for the great cause of liberty. Because freedom is the birthright of all man."
