He wasn't even an immigrant, let alone illegal. The Uighurs are the native people of Xinjiang. The PRC commited a war crime in Tibet when it colonised conquered lands with ethnic Chinese. They seem to be at it again in Xinjiang, although it is not a conquered territory.

It is amusing, if that is the proper word for it, that many Marxists or leftists are only anti-imperialist to a point. If their chosen state or ideal representative nation should be carrying out oppression, even if it is on an ethnic basis, they do not remain silent but rather choose to support such a state, vehemently. I have seen footage of Uyghurs being beaten in the street. This is not some mere US plot to disrupt the stability of the Chinese nation, it is the result of heightening ethnic tensions between Han and Uyghur as a result of PRC policy in the region. The Uyghurs are a people without a homeland, without any ability to express their culture or maintain it, whilst they are restricted from practicing Islam, their faith. Under these circumstances, how could anyone suggest the PRC are justified, or furthermore, that the Uyghurs are being unreasonable in finding grievance?
