National Demonstrations have been called for this week (mainly June 5th I believe) by ANSWER coalition.

http://seizebp.org/

Seize BP Days of Action
Demonstrations happening in more than 50 cities
Thursday, June 3 - Saturday, June 5

Seize BP National Day of Action, San Francisco, 05-12-10The greatest environmental disaster with no end in sight! Eleven workers dead. Millions of gallons of oil gushing for months (and possibly years) to come. Jobs vanishing. Creatures dying. A pristine environment destroyed for generations. A mega-corporation that has lied and continues to lie, and a government that refuses to protect the people.

When the bill comes due, BP will pick up and leave town. The corporation will be “reorganized” or dissolved with its assets handed over to some other conglomerate before it has to pay out. Its executives will be paid handsomely; the people whose lives it has destroyed will be left to suffer.

From Thursday, June 3 to Saturday, June 5, actions will take place across the country to demand: Seize BP! We will be organizing demonstrations in more than 50 cities to protest the mounting economic and environmental damage from BP’s offshore oil drilling and to demand that BP’s assets be immediately seized and put in trust

ANSWER characterizes itself as anti-imperialist, and its steering committee consists of socialists, civil rights advocates, and left-wing or progressive organizations from the Muslim, Arab, Palestinian, Filipino, Haitian, and Latin American communities. ANSWER was formed at the initiative of Ramsey Clark and the International Action Center; many of ANSWER's leaders were members of Workers World Party at the time of ANSWER's founding, and are current members of the Party for Socialism and Liberation.[3]

Interesting how the groups sponsoring are all socialist based fascist and Marxist types.
Why is it socialist types are intolerant of Jews?

That was quite an incoherent post you've made there DanDaMan,

Yes many of the leadership of ANSWER is Marxist, so how could they be fascist too?

And are you really one of those types who believes that being critical of Israel is the same thing as being antisemitic?

Not until recently.
It's just that I recently saw opinion that pointed out that socialist based ideologies, throughout history, have been leading the way for being antisemitic.
The National Socialist party.
Fascist religions (Muslim)
Communists sold out Jews to the Nazis.
Communist persecution of religion in general.

Seems to me the left is very illiberal and intolerant.

The National Socialist party.

You're obviously quite confused as to what this party was, and history itself. If you knew anything about Marxist history, you would know how absurd that claim is.

Fascist religions (Muslim)

Again, what this has to do with Marxist Socialism, I'm just not sure.

Communists sold out Jews to the Nazis.

How so? Was this before or after they were both in concentration camps?

Communist persecution of religion in general.

This is another confused notion of how Communist lead countries deal with religion. For example, in cases like the Spanish civil war, the Church actively supported the Fascists. So the left wing socialists (the Anarchists and Marxists) did indeed find themselves at conflict with the Church, often violently (e.g. Anarchists killing priests). But in places like Latin America and the United States, Communists often find themselves allied with some faith based groups in common struggle. This is a strange generalization you make here based on a talking point of course (like the rest of your posts about what you perceive to be "socialism")

You're not even really saying anything here. And your entire post had absolutely nothing to do with the post of mine that you've quoted. It seems you may as well have just copied and pasted text from Glenn Beck's website.

What...Communists and fascists are above USING religion for political gain!!!

Here in America the Progressive Left is also perverting Christianity into "Marxist Christianity" where the state puts itself before God.

Oh give me a break. I said "allied in struggle" where does that imply even any Communist influence over religion?

You certainly do some strange logical exercises to arrive at your conclusions.

Here in America the Progressive Left is also perverting Christianity into "Marxist Christianity" where the state puts itself before God.

This sentence is so full off Glenn-Beck-speak (aka a very confused/incoherent sentence) that I don't even know where to start to address it (and is thus not really worth it)

You watch him too!
Well then, you know he states that Marxist Christianity is the communist perversion of Gods word to put the state before God.

Seize BP is a great campaign. I wasn't able to make it out to the rallies in Philly because of work and on the weekend it was pouring rain (guess I'm not really a true commie?).

The campaign has a much better chance at educating the public than the Boycott BP campaign.
