Decky wrote:A bit silly to phrase it as if it's yes/ no thing, however compared to capitalism, yes, yes, a thousand times yes.

I didn't phrase it as a yes / no thing. Nothing in my question would forbid 'a maybe depending on how democratic it was' or 'okay but I like anarchism better' as an answer.

If you have read Mike's proposition then you should be able to realise it is very different to the imperialistic state sponsored capitalism you (and I) abhor.

Another question then. If you do like state-socialism then how do you value Mike's Catallaxy in comparison to it. And why?

I think people prefer being alive to being dead. Mike would take the NHS from the people by force and give it to those with lots of little bits of paper with the queens head on them. It is an ugly brutal ideology and anyone working class should resist it to the last man and last bullet. :)

Mike would have it that people can choose how to spend their own wealth. The NHS isn't funded by the wealthy it is funded by taxing the working people. Statism (red or blue) is the ugliest and most brutal of all ideologies and anyone rich, poor or inbetween who refuses to be herded like cattle by egomaniacal government turds should resist to the last man and last bullet. >:

Meanwhile in the real world...

The NHS is funded by the wealthy

Fixed that for you. :) You are welcome.

No thought on my position on distributing the hospitals?

When the workers have seized that state they will own the NHS though the state (the workers control the state through their organ the Communist party).

Why try to improve on perfection? What's wrong with that? Why would giving it to the rich be better?

You call that wealthy? Progressive income tax is a tax on labour that gets more punishing the more you earn therefore keeping the worker out of the capital class. Real wealthy people, your hated capitalists don't pay a dime. They get the money taxed from working people (lower and middle classes) in the form of massive subsidies, so called corporate welfare. You support that? Talk about class traitors...

Are you incapable of actually thinking about different possibilities or situations, or do you simply lack the intellectual curiosity?

I'm not sure what you mean (I suppose that strongly points to the former). Could you expand? :?:

Often when considering other peoples positions and that positions merits i do not tell them that mines better and just leave.

I simply consider the relative merits of their position and discuss my opinions on each point.

You more or less just say "it's not communism so I won't even consider it".

Nonsense. It is more. "It's libertarianism so I won't even consider it."

Lots of other ideologies have good points to go with the bad. But yours is litteraly all bad. :) It is like the world 100 richest men got into a room and wrote out a wish list of ways to get richer.

It's not necessarily libertarianism, several people have so far declared that I'm drifting towards syndicalism because of it.

Keep going. :) You are acknowledging that people can organise to represent their interests.

Once you realise people are separated into classes you will understand that they must organise to represent their interests (which mainly consist of fucking over every other class as their interests are mutually exclusive).

This will lead you in a good direction.

Mike,
Reverting hospitals to the ownership of doctors won't make any difference, and won't create any lasting reality.

1. The Doctors (and, presumably, other medical staff), wanting to be paid, and needing to pay for supply would still have to charge patients (or their insurance companies or charitable organisations) for medical services.

2. New hospitals and/or improvements and existing hospitals would still require capital, and the owners of that capital would need to be compensated for their risk and delayed consumption.

3. Your system couldn't prevent entrepreneurs from opening new hospitals or acquiring existing hospitals from their staff-owners.

The upshot is that over time, hospital ownership will revert to those entrepreneurs most effectively able to manage them. There is no reason to expect that the talent required to run a hospital is more likely to be possessed by Doctors. In fact, most hospitals are run by administrators, not MDs.

I don't have strong views on the completely hypothetical and unrealistic "overnight" transition from the current system to an ideal one.

In practice, even if we do end with the kind of society we both favour, the transition is likely to be gradual. The NHS will have been privatised under government control well before government itself becomes irrelevant.
