That's the title of an article i just read about what happened in Venezuela in April 2002, that is to say the failed coup d'état supported indirectly by the United States, an article that gave loads of informations about what is really the opposition in Venezuela.

Does anybody remember these events?

Of course! How the coup was defeated was magnificent! Chavez is a hero and I fully support the 'Bolivarian' ie. national-democratic revolution in Venezuela. Unfortunately, the situation can't stay in its current phase forever. There will be more and more coup attempts by the powerfull Venezuelan comprador bourgeoisie backed by US monopoly capital. In order to save the gains of the 'Bolivarian' revolution, the proletariat must take leadership, complete the anti-imperialist struggle and proceed to socialist revolution. Otherwise, the reactionaries will win.

Yes, the means used to defeat the coup d'état was brillant!

The article insisted a lot on the relations between all the opposition and the american government, and to see a whole population rise against such an opposition, and consequently the United States is a glimmer of hope.

It also pointed out the manipulations of the media used to justify the betrayal of the armed forces. Very interesting thing.

But like you said, and that was the conclusion of the article, other coups are being prepared, again with the full support of the USA, great defender of democracy ;) , and Chavez and his supporters won't be able to defeat them forever.

Like you said, it might be the right moment for the next step, but shouldn't we wait a little, in order to give Chavez time to accomplish a first (mainly economical) transition?

I remember the Venezuelan strikes, because I was so wrong about them! :O I remember posting at SE about how Chavez had lost the support of the people and should agree to the election. Guerrilero (I never could spell that right :p) then gave me a link showing just how many people were actually striking, and that made me feel a little stupid. You're not kidding about the media slant!

In my opinion he is a heroe. I just hope that the US government avoid this time its political "tactics" and not kill him.
why do I say this:
I heard that the United Staters, (who have political ranks in Venezuela) were preparing to leave the country.
Is that true?
Can you tell something about it?[/quote]
