Compare Your Country to the USA: Informational (Jab) - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

America gets a lot of crap from other Countries, here is a little information that lets you see how your Country compares with the USA. I show land area, economic comparisons, military strength, charity, etc. There is nothing specific here other than general knowledge, some interesting tid-bits and the like.

Example: Did you know that if you added America into the Worlds top 100 Countries... our states would take up over 35% of the list? :D

So anyway my point of all this is, for the most part... if your not on the list of top 10 Countries then your Country is this>

Image and America or anyone of its many states, is this> Image

and even if your not a mouse, it really does not matter...> Image

Just wanted to make that clear! Have a good day!!

U.S. Foreign Aid Summary

You broke down the US into states, but not other countries? If you broke other countries into their constituent states, you'd see many US states slip off that list and the European share increase dramatically.

Scotland for example would be on the list, forcing Kansas, Nevada, Utah, Arkansas, Mississippi and Nebraska down one place. I'm not au fait with the German states, but I imagine a few of those have very high GDP.

And yeah different parts of the USA have different HDI values, so what? It's the same for the UK, France, Germany, Japan etc too. The US as a whole is still ranked 8th.

Your claim that the US is very close to the EU in terms of GDP is also flaky. You're right, it IS close... about as close as Tuvalu is to Italy.

Your foreign aid map is also stupid. You are trying to highlight the US gives the most aid, but ignore that the UK, Germany and France combined give more with a smaller total population. European countries give vastly more foreign aid than the US, VASTLY. http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/eco_e ... -aid-donor

In fact the EU itself (not the countries within it) gives 12bn euros in aid. We're talking about a 3:1 ratio here never mind private donations to charities and so forth.

In short: You keep moving the goal posts to make the US look great, but forget the average POFO poster is able to see through such a simple ruse.

Indeed, Bavaria, Baden-Württemberg and North Rhine-Westphalia would like to have a word with most US states (while being smaller by a huge margin). ;)
Bavaria would be in the top 10 of the world. Not sure about BW, but I think it would rank very high, too.

This is from the US perspective... I only had so much time, feel free to add as you wish.

In general though I did not break down piss ass little Countries, because they are already piss ass little Countries.

No, it is close, period. The gap is closer than the gap between the next Country down and the USA, by so much you should be ashamed for even mentioning it.

I don't know maybe you should take that up with those who created the map?

Because it does, both as a Country and on the Individual level, you see other Countries give more than the USA does by %, yet no one even come close to the 66.1 billion in aid we gave last year.

Your link did not work, but mine will...

Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better, mouse.

Russkie , so sorry but Russia just does not compare. Even if you get bumped up by those numbers your still only fighting for the 7th/8th position. Be proud to be American, or leave, I'll pay for your ticket.

Give over, KFlint...I'm tekkin' the piss!

I spent four months in the Iraqi desert with these buggers...

...so I'm pretty pro-American away from PoFo.

I'm serious Kflint just by being excited about our country and not apologizing for our greatness you will have massive support from us veterans. What we need in government are policy makers that are pro American. Start at the VFW halls and move outward. Don't waste time seeking state office you can make very little impact there (Ca right?) you can however use a city or county office as a platform to take control of a congressional district and then off to Washington with you. Veterans love to vote for other Veterans bro.

Russkie, do you even care? The point of size, is most people do not know that the USA is as big as it is, or more accurately that the whole of Europe is as small as it is. The larger point was to set up the GDP lad mass/US Map to show where the USA sits and how.

Xbow, have you followed my posts? I mean balancing the budget with me and other procedural aspects that I advocate? I would be able to garner a good amount of military support and I would be able to pull maybe 25% from both parties.

The downer here is that my very stances are at odds with those in power, I do not think they should have it, and they want to keep it at all costs. Since they are already in that position... wresting it from them presents a problem.

I second that. The United States already do a good job of abolishing freedom in the name of freedom. Create a new party named "The democratic libertarian patriotic fascist party of America" and be the next president. Despite having an awesome name, it would finally lead to some broken bonds with Europe. :D

(Obviously, I'm not entirely serious, for the record)

It's not a question of perspective, it's a question of accuracy. What you have presented is a gross misrepresentation of US status. Most of middle America would drop off that list if you showed things accurately.

In general though I did not break down piss ass little Countries, because they are already piss ass little Countries.

Many of these "piss ass" countries are more economically successful than corresponding US states. Which is why the sum of the EU is greater than the sum of US.

No, it is close, period. The gap is closer than the gap between the next Country down and the USA, by so much you should be ashamed for even mentioning it.

As close as the difference between Tuvalu and Italy, sure.

I don't know maybe you should take that up with those who created the map?

He didn't post it, you did.

Because it does, both as a Country and on the Individual level, you see other Countries give more than the USA does by %, yet no one even come close to the 66.1 billion in aid we gave last year.

I think you'll think the EU together contributes more than 66.1 billion. So as a nation state sure the US contributes a lot, but it's nothing special.

Whatever you need to tell yourself to feel better, mouse.

:p

It sounds like you need to make yourself feel better. I already feel awesome!

I can only say a few things:

1) The longest journey begins with the first step.
2) Second, your first mission is to secure a political beachhead no matter how small that beachhead is. Make some piece of political terrain yours and build from there.
3) Keep your own counsel as far as your ultimate goal is concerned and by doing right by your constituents it is they that will push you upwards to higher office.
4) If your goal is the betterment of the country and its people that fact would be impossible to hide.
