The Arctic region is one of the world's hydrocarbon production centers and powerful international transport communications. Russia's military presence in the Arctic is part of a strategy to promote the region in a variety of interests, including economic.
In this regard, Russian Defense increases Russian military activity in the Arctic region. 22 years after leaving Soviet Union, was opened a military town for parts of the Eastern Military District on on Wrangel Island. International Environmental Corporation WWF and "Greenpeace" its speculation on environmental issues prevent the development of various infrastructure projects in the Russian Federation in the Arctic. Environmentalists are actively seeking the suspension of Russian military programs in the region. So, "Greenpeace" is a pro-Western organization, and all the actions of the organization are based on the interests of transnational Western corporations.
Certainly Arctic ecosystem is very fragile and we have to keep it most carefully. But modern technology allows carrying out various activities in the region and minimizing the most of the possible risks and preserving the unique nature.
