In Japan, rape crimes cannot be prosecuted without a complaint by the victim.

So, it is said that only 4 percent of victims of sexual assault go so far as to file a complaint with the police.

In Japan, it is often said that it is an awful shame to become a rape victim.

But the story is probably a paradoxical deception.

For example, we never hear that daughters of the Establishment file a rape complaint.

Do they bear the rape crime silently?

Not at all.

And rogue men know better than raping a girl of a rich family.

Generally speaking, rape victims are usually poor people.

Why?

Many Japanese think at bottom that rich people do not need the police.

Rich people always settle the problem using such Yakuza people.

The settlement is completely safe and without shame.

Earlier this year, 22-year-old actor Yuta Takahata was arrested on charges of allegedly raping a 49-year-old hotel worker. Police said Takahata had asked the woman to bring him a toothbrush and then dragged her into his room around 2 a.m. on Aug. 23. He allegedly pinned her down during the attack.

Takahata was released on bail on Sept. 9 after prosecutors decided not to pursue charges over the incident. Takahata reportedly admitted raping the woman, according to police and Japanese media reports. However, Takahata is believed to have subsequently agreed on a settlement with the victim and prosecutors dropped the case. Once he had been freed, Takahata’s lawyers released a statement implying that they would have denied the charges if the case had gone to court.

The man only committed an attempt to rape, which is a misdemeanour offence punishable by a fine, and the victim escaped unharmed after the drunken man tried to drag her into the hotel room. The man is also from a wealthy family and his mother is a famous actress, which was why there was an out-of-court settlement. A substantial sum of money may have been paid to the victim, which allowed her to retire comfortably.

The majority of yakuza members are Korean migrants who are excluded from Japanese society. The Yamaguchi-gumi, the largest criminal gang group in Japan, is 70% Korean.

While ethnic Koreans make up only 0.5% of the Japanese population, they are a prominent part of yakuza, perhaps because they suffer severe discrimination in Japanese society alongside the burakumin.[37][38] In the early 1990s, 18 of 90 top bosses of Inagawa-kai were ethnic Koreans. The Japanese National Police Agency suggested Koreans composed 10% of the yakuza proper and 70% of burakumin in the Yamaguchi-gumi.[37] Some of the representatives of the designated Bōryokudan are also.[39] The Korean significance had been an untouchable taboo in Japan and one of the reasons that the Japanese version of Kaplan and Dubro's Yakuza (1986) had not been published until 1991 with the deletion of Korean-related descriptions of the Yamaguchi-gumi.[40]

Japanese-born people of Korean ancestry are considered resident aliens because of their nationality and are often shunned in legitimate trades, and are therefore embraced by the yakuza precisely because they fit the group's "outsider" image.[41] Notable yakuza members of Korean ancestry include Hisayuki Machii, the founder of the Tosei-kai, Tokutaro Takayama, the president of the 4th-generation Aizukotetsu-kai, Jiro Kiyota, the president of the 5th-generation Inagawa-kai, Hirofumi Hashimoto, the head of the Kyokushinrengo-kai, and the bosses of the 6th / 7th Sakaume-gumi.
