They Told Us Lockdowns Were About Flattening the Curve. They Lied. - Page 4 - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

Theories and happenings too odd for the main forums.

Still doing Right wing propaganda, I see.

Pandemics can pop up anywhere, but more often that not, it's in industrial agriculture. That has to change.

We need to improve our ability to deal with pandemics, at the very least back to the level we had before Trump.

You see what you want to see. Trump isn't wrong about everything, he just shouldn't be president.

Throwing a hissy fit in a crisis is seriously counter-productive.

When we get a real president, we can get a couple dozen countries together and lean on China and actually get something done.

Good point POD!

Point of clarification

Stopping the economy, social distancing, and masks reduces the rate of viral transmission. In other words the increment of infected divided by time is a smaller figure (the upslope). This prevents saturation of medical services. The idea is to spread the number of severely ill patients over a longer amount of time to prevent dysfunction in ICUs. That is what flattening of the curve means.

It is quite possible that at the end of the pandemic the area under the curve without and with protective measures may be more or less the same. Hopefully the area under with the curve with protective measures is smaller and that would mean some lives were saved before herd immunity was achieved or before a vaccine is available. If a cure is not found the area under the curves will be exactly the same. In other words all we did was spread death and severe illness over a longer period of time. Which is a good thing to avoid saturation of funeral homes and ICUs.

@Julian658

Your discussion of flattening the curve is almost right, but still irrelevant to the thread.

Now, can the OP or one its supporters actually show that there was willful deception on the part of politicians when the politicians decreed a lockdown?

POD, sort of agrees with me. This is a massive achievement. We are making progress! 8) 8)

You made at least one significant error in your irrelevant tangent.

Now, do you have any evidence that the lockdown was a scam?

Please describe the error. Unlike the the Pope I am not infallible.
