So much for the Castro regime’s embrace of Gay rights: Arrested Cuban transsexual dies in police custody
http://babalublog.com/2011/09/so-much-f ... e-custody/

By Alberto de la Cruz, on September 11, 2011

Over the past year, there has been much hoopla over a series of conciliatory statements toward Cuba's gay community made by the daughter of dictator Raul Castro and head of the regime's sex ministry, Mariela Castro. In addition, the press went wild with the recent "gay marriage" that took place in Havana, pointing to the event as a watershed moment in the gay rights movement in communist Cuba.

The media and various "Cuba Experts" lauded the totalitarian dictatorship of Cuba for its "embrace" of gay rights, and cited Mariela Castro's statements and the "gay wedding" as proof that the tyrannical dictatorship of the Castro brothers is moving in the right direction. However, it is apparent that the "reforms" and "embrace" of gay rights were short-lived.

Funeral photograph of transsexual Nelson Linares Garcia, who died in police custody
ImageThirty-four-year-old transsexual Nelson Linares Garcia was detained in the early morning hours of September 8 at the Fraternity Park and taken to the police station in Zanja where he died shortly thereafter. A doctor certified "respiratory arrest" as the cause of death, but the authorities did not conduct an autopsy. - Photograph: Ignacio Estrada
The truth is that it is extremely rare for someone that young to die suddenly, overnight, in a police station, and don’t practice and autopsy on the decease to determine the cause of dead. This really smell to foul play by the police.

Dissident, Roberto de Jesús Guerra, who was released from prison after two years in 2007, said that in recent weeks had seen repeated raids by police on LGBT meeting at several sites in the Cuban capital. Continuing police harassment in Cuba, including arrests, has been reported on gay Cuban blogs, such as that of the Reinaldo Arenas Memorial Foundation.

Regular people feel repulsed by sexual minorities and are naturally hostile to them, especially in Latin America, where liberal propaganda has not brainwashed the youth into believing that thinking you're a man if you're a woman is totally normal and not the sign of serious mental illness.

Andropov's point, as cruel as it sounds, isn't that far from reality. I think that that accusing Cuba of heavy human rights abuse over such a thing is a bit of hypocritical thing to do for the liberal media. They never cry about human rights when anarchists mysteriously commit suicide by "jumping" out of a police station's window. Or when people get persecuted for being in a romantic relationship with people whose political ideas are unpleasent (see the case of german olympic athlete Nadja Drygalla).

Herb Sosa, president of Unity Coalition, a Latino LGBT organization based in Miami that has provided materials and resources to LGBT groups, has accused the Cuban government of engaging in extrajudicial executions. According to Acosta of OBCUD LGBT, repression of LGBT in Cuba is increasing, not only in Havana but "we have documented Matanzas [North Cuba] and Guantanamo [East Cuba] cases." He said that his group would protest repression to the United Nations.

Lol at Sandokan championing the rights of the maricones just because it happened in Cuba. Would you champion their rights if this happened in any other country or a post-socialist Cuba? I thought not.
