We need International Law. This is the only way. It is not possible to live in this globalized world without International Law. It is anarchy. When every state maintains sovereignty, it is not possible to live together. The sexual ethic of person is dictated by the law of the society. Every individual has to submit his individual sovereignty to the reckoning of the state. It is the only way to escape the conflict generated from illiteracy. Drugs have to be legalized. It is a product of high demand. The supply must be controlled by the state and made safe. An advanced civilization cannot allow its’ citizens to turn to crime and prostitution to pay for their wants. The state has to work out a way to supply the right doses and stimulate the economy. World federation is the only option to escape the conflict in the state of nature generated from state sovereignty.

WHOAH! Now let's be careful here.

One of the lessons of the 1930s & 40s is that
none of us have a 'responsibility' to a state. We
have responsibilities to basic principles of truth
and justice.

Anything & everything else is totally voluntary. End of story

Indeed. The OP is an invitation for oppression at a global level.

He doesn't just want a global government, he wants a global government that only has policies with which he agrees. Well, wouldn't we all like that?

But this is just daydreaming as we cannot assume that a global government is going to do the things we like. Might be that the global government legalizes drugs, it might be that they do hard oppression of drugs. And then what?

You can't have international law without an international authority to enforce it.

Who do we suggest for that role? America seems the nearest thing we have to a global military power at this time. But they will have to crush all their rivals first.

In my opinion, the ends don't justify the means.

globalization is the homogenization, or standardization of norms across many sectors, notably finance and trade. Following that, there should be standardizations regarding human rights, labor rights, and environmental sustainability.

It is a good thing that the elite of the globe come together, set aside their differences, dip their wicks in each other's ink, and cease threatening to totally destroy one another for whatever reason. This is accomplished through open communication, conflict resolution, and transparency.

BUT - the elite needs to be a set of institutions that is democratically and meritocratically selected, OPEN AND TRANSPARENT to all in society. Positions of power and influence need to be rotational, and all segments of society need to have pathways to access to these positions.

The global structure as it currently stands is moving in the right direction - in terms that the people of the world are trading and traveling, and that elites in most countries are signing onto the Western model by in large - a model based in theory, austensibly, on human rights and the rule of law. The problem is that our institutions of influence are still not exactly democratic, meritocratic, transparent or accountable. It is still a private club, the vast majority of people are not allowed to join. And this creates class division which may cause social instability everywhere in the world, as we come up against the limits of our ability to expand our population and exploit resources, and as our current economic models are all based on those two things...it seems either global tyranny global chaos, or violent competition for resources are the only options.
