That's not a bad idea. Then when the space station becomes obsolete, just launch it towards the sun, don't ever allow it to come back to earth.

Well, a lot would depend on how virulent alien microorganisms are determined to be. Maybe they can't survive our bacteria. Not that they'd take a chance on releasing them deliberately but...they might deem it safe to bring them to a laboratory on Earth.
