Dogs are a made-up species that has no survival skills, that was invented to protect private property, and to give the socially-inept a reliable (because totally dependent) friend.
You could do the same thing with humans by forcing docile dummies to procreate with each other incestuously, and they you would create a new 'species' of hard-working and clueless human slaves.
