Hamas Kornet Penetrates Merkava - Page 2 - Politics Forum.org | PoFo

Wandering the information superhighway, he came upon the last refuge of civilization, PoFo, the only forum on the internet ...

Military vehicles, aircraft, ships, guns and other military equipment. Plus any general military discussions that don't belong elsewhere on the board.

I've shown you with factual examples that this approach does not achieve effective results long term. In all these decades of retaliation, the Palestianians and other local militants haven't been deterred at all. In fact, they just get more militant with each iteration. The PLO in Lebanon were a problem... now you have Hezbollah. Black September were a threat... now you have Hamas.

They grew more militant because Israel surrendered its positions after each round of violence. First it was Shamir who promised them a state, then Rabin gave them real control, after that Ehud Barak gave them 93% of the west bank, and after that Ehud Olmert gave them 96% of the west bank and partial return of refugees. They get more violent each time they receive more because they learn that violence gets real results. And if you think the measly military operations we have conducted are really something that will scare terrorists and their leaders you are wrong. Something really scary would be what the Russians did to Grozniy. In addition we must stop conceding whenever they use violence. If we followed these guidelines there would be no second Intifida, no Quassams and no Hezbollah rockets. It is only after we started conceding in times of Rabin that Palestinians got really violent.

One reason they are able to do this, and it's something you overlooked in your kill counter, is the Palestinian refugee population.

Since Israel will never let 5 millions of enemies into its borders, this is completely irrelevant. Europeans barely let anyone in, only a very small amount of refugees. They have no right to tell us what should be our immigration policy.

Okay, let me re-iterate: what technological capability exists to detect and effectively destroy Hamas' tunnel network that reaches into Egypt, at long range?

We constany destroy these tunnes with air force strikes, just listen to the news. Bunkers can be destroyed by bunker penetrating missiles, and we should have many more of those instead of the super expensive high-tech bubble technology.

Yet you harp on the deaths of soldiers without considering the utility of their actions. Even their deaths are part of a delicate balance. If the opposition think you are afraid to be hurt, they will use any opportunity to hurt you.

That's correct, our enemies are animals, they prey on weakness. What they should know is that Israel will get them no matter how well they try to hide in schools or hospitals or behind civilians. They have to know that if a rocket is being fired all the territory from which it was fired will be devasted. It is stupid to play the moral highground games when you wage wars with heartless terrorists, I have no moral problem to hit them just as they hit me, and that includes collateral damage, and other nasty tactics.

It isn't a matter of the Israelis being better or worse. It is a matter of
1) The Israeli oppression is actively subsidized by the United States of America.
2) The Israeli oppression involves Statelessness and oppression of non-citizens, Chechens and Tibetans may also be oppressed, but at least they are citizens.
3) The Israeli oppression could be ended relatively easily, and could have been, over the last 40 years, if the West (and the U.S. in particular) had wanted to end it. A tragedy is not an injustice if it is inevitable.
4) The crimes of any number of other regimes does not excuse Israel's (or anyone else's, for that matter).

Well lucky for us and for the entire planet not everyone is an intervensionist like yourself, and some people actually have their own lives to worry about rather than the plea of Palestinians, or how I see it, the plea of a nation of irresponsible crybabies who want to destroy Israel and will not accept any compromise in beween.
