Flame throwers are illegal across the globe. I doubt any nation would be so bold as to employ them.

If the attacking force is armed with swords maybe...

Otherwise the torrents of flame will trace back to their firing position, making their neutralisation with ranged fire fairly easy.

Not to mention the gross waste of fuel this would entail.

IIRC the British experimented with a flamethrower on ships to deter divebombing. Didn't really work for them.
