Subverting the Sultan: British Arms Shipments to the Arabs of Darfur, 1915-16

What is it with the United Kingdom preceeding the misdeeds of Arab tyrants? First, I find out that 67 years or so before Saddam Hussein's gassing of rebellious Iraqi Kurds, the British did the same. Now here's an article about how the Brits armed "Arab" militias (although to me the Sudanese Arabs actually look racially Black) against the Fur people ("Darfur" more or less means "Land of the Fur").

The British are industrially and economically ahead by 60+ years.

They used existing hostility to their advantage, aiding whatevetr group would give them the best outcome.

Saddam, Modern Arab militias.. it took them a while.. say 60 years.. to get enough money/industry to get enough arms to continue what they were doing in the past.
