What if the Womens division galvanizes the army, and the Russians succeed in pushing the Germans back and force a equatable armistice. Kerensky goverment ends the war, what is the repuccusions on Russia and the Soviet majority. Would we have seen civil war? Would the reactioneries be silenced, and the goverment actually develop into a functional state leading to real Socialism?

The reactionaries, led by Kornilov, had already tried to overthrow Kerensky. They would doubtless have tried again in the near future, and probably succeeded (Kornilov's putsch was defeated largely because Kerensky called on the Bolsheviks to help defend him). By August 1917, it was clear that Kerensky was a spent force politically - he had called on the reactionaries to defend him against the Bolsheviks in July, and then on the Bolsheviks to defend him against the reactionaries in August. Somebody was going to overthrow Kerensky; it was merely a question of who and when.

Indeed.

From the very beginning it had been a provisional government, bound to give in to either revolutionary or reactionary forces.

Why was this posted in the "Communism" sub-forum?

Do we even have an alternate history sub-forum or do threads like this just belong in the general history part?

99% of all posts in the history sub-forum are alternative history posts. Presumably this is because the general public engages in historical discourse predominately through counter-factual theorizing.

Maybe we should have a counter-factual history/counter-factual analysis sub-forum?

Better not to.

Factual history or factual analyses is not far from the counter factual one. The study of history in essence is interpreting the interaction of narratives.
