Most Christians do not even "try", is what I am saying. A typical atheist is about as "Christian" as the typical Christian, if it comes to loving thy fellow man and children.

groovy greetings all you hip cats
I'm the newbie, so I'm sure you're going to dig this.
In Revelations it says there is the BEAST, THE FALSE PROPHET, AND THE SERPENT(THE ANTI-CHRIST). It's known as the unholy trinity that is supposed to take over the world and bring about Armageddon. The BEAST is supposed to enslave the whole world. With a $15 trillion national debt, the U.S. government has pretty much enslaved all present and future generations. If the national debt is paid off at $30 billion per month(which is what was being spent on the Iraq/Afghan wars) it will take about two thousand years. And all the rest of the governments in the world are in debt up to their eyeballs too.
The FALSE PROPHET is supposed to fool the whole world into following the BEAST down to perdition. The only one that could do that is the MEDIA. Just like they fooled the whole world into following Shrub Jr. into the Iraq war by getting everyone to believe that Saddam had yellow cake for nukes.
The SERPENT is supposed to get everyone to wear the mark of the BEAST and bring about Armageddon. Well who ever the SERPENT is he's going to have to have access to the SUPER WAR MACHINE. The U.S. spends $662 billion per year on the war machine. It takes the next twenty most powerful countries in the world added together to equal what the U.S. spends on the WAR MACHINE every year. The SERPENT isn't going to be somebody like Bin Ladden or Imanutjob the Iranian leader. They're not going to get control of the whole world.
And everyone must have the mark of the BEAST in order to have a job. That's an easy one, the Social Security number.
One more thing, in Revelations chapter 18 it says that the great city Babylon will be totally destroyed. That city is where ALL the kings of the world, and ALL the merchants of the world gather together. Babylon isn't in Iraq, it's where the UNITED NATIONS building and the WORLD TRADE CENTER are.
Wow! Don't ya just love Christianity?

Jesus christ was not a 'liberal' (as Americans call those on the left). Jesus stated that to follow him one should practice charity to a very advanced degree. he didn't tell his followers to build a political state and force everyone else who isn't you to pay taxes to fund your charity for you (whilst getting yourself a well paid job in the administration).

Charity is the willing giving of your own goods and services to others. What the left proposes has nothing in common with that.

Jesus practiced peace, love and brotherhood, the foundation of liberalism. Conservatives practice war, hate and bigotry. The only thing cons conserve is tax cuts for the rich, that's it. Being right wing is a fascist ideology, like Mussolini. Hitler was a fascist. He overthrew the socialist democrats. And America won't go there. :moron:
#13913106
jesus practiced charity and encouraged others to practice charity. That isn't 'liberalism'. "liberalism' (in the US sense) is about taxing other people then making sure you get a job out of it spending those taxes.

To be charitable you have to give your own money, freely. Liberals give other peoples money.

Simplistic talk show hogwash. How about trillions in corporate welefare advocated by so called conservatives?

This simple minded conservative vs liberal crap is nothing more than the time tested "divide and conquer" tatic being used by the behind the scenes boys who own the government.

Bullshit. Please don't tell me you are one of those mouth-breathers who thinks Jesus would be happy with the conservative movement in this country.

Jesus said "feed the poor". He did not say the state should not do it. His followers pooled their money and fed the poor. You know nothing of Jesus message.

Acts 4:34 At the present time your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. Then there will be equality,

"Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal.
But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal."

There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

“‘When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the LORD your God.’”

Does this sound like free charity or a commandment from God to take from those who have and give to those who have not?

I could go on. I get seriously pissed at all of the so-called Christians who are desparately trying to make Jesus in thier own twisted immage. Here is what you need to know:

31 “When the Son of Man comes in his glory, and all the angels with him, he will sit on his glorious throne. 32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.
34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world. 35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’

37 “Then the righteous will answer him, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you something to drink? 38 When did we see you a stranger and invite you in, or needing clothes and clothe you? 39 When did we see you sick or in prison and go to visit you?’

40 “The King will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.’

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. 42 For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink, 43 I was a stranger and you did not invite me in, I needed clothes and you did not clothe me, I was sick and in prison and you did not look after me.’

44 “They also will answer, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or needing clothes or sick or in prison, and did not help you?’

45 “He will reply, ‘Truly I tell you, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me.’

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”

Was Jesus what we would call a liberal today? Of course. If you are really a Christian then you have some soul searching to do. Jesus asked for personal charity but he also asked for communal charity. And God commanded it. Read, study, think and pray before you post garbage like that in the name of Christianity.

how does that statement let 'liberals' off from the charge they are generous with other people's money, all you have asserted is that Conservatives are generous with other people's money too.

yes they were charitable. his followers did not round up all the local villagers and take their money then give that to the poor (whilst paying themselves a salary out of the taxes )

Bullshit. Please don't tell me you are one of those mouth-breathers who thinks Jesus would be happy with the conservative movement in this country.

From what I read of Jesus then I would think there was hardly anyone who he could class as a follower. You had to give up everything and follow him to be one and not worry about money at all since God will provide. There is nothing about living like a conservative or a lIberal.

There were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned lands or houses sold them, brought the money from the sales and put it at the apostles' feet, and it was distributed to anyone as he had need.

Did they force those who were not apostles to sell their houses?

Does this sound like free charity or a commandment from God to take from those who have and give to those who have not?

It sounds like Jesus telling his followers to give up all they had and give it to the poor. It doesn't say "go to rich people who aren't my followers and force them to give everything up)

Wrong. Jesus was a Jew. The last quote was a commandment from God, in Leviticus that applied to the entire Jewish state. Judiasm had a long tradition of caring for the poor from the public coffers long before Jesus time.

That is EXACTLY what it sounds like. Because my friend, the penalty for not doing it was not getting into heaven. Which, in my estimation, is a tad worse than 18 months in Club Fed. You forget the penalty for not obeying Jesus' teachings. He was not throwing snow balls.
#13913714
The early Christians like revolutionary 1st century Judaists looked forward to a complete revolution where the old regime would suffer terrorist retribution that would makeLenin's Cheka look like the boy scouts. I think they possibly envisaged something like the recent Libyan war with the heavenly host standing in for NATO as the air support.

if somebody claims to be Conservative but themselves confesses to be an Atheist I can only difficult to believe he / she is a genuine Conservative. IMO only a true Christian can be a true Con, otherwise he / she tends to be a fluffy-bunny politically correct funny fuzzy "Conservative", a friend of liberals, CNN and RINOs. Why the Tea Party has a such grandiose success? The answer is clear, because it is firstly a Christian, not a political movement. Therefore the Holy Bible should be the Guide N 1 for every true Conservative and we all should go back to our Christian roots.

There is no doubt that Conservatives will go to Heaven while Liberals will burn in HELL for all of ETERNITY! Splash some holy water on a liberal and they will BURN!

Leviticus predates a jewish state. The tithe being demanded under the rabbinate was vastly smaller than the massive percentage of taxation levied in the US today, go back to 10% taxes? I'm sure Conservative would be delighted.

The penalty for not doing it was not getting into heaven.

Please explain heaven in a Jewish context. I would love to hear a Christian tell me all about the Jewish religion.(oy veh!)

Wrong again. Do we see a trend?

The demand by God to leave crops in the field was in addition to the thithe not part of it. And I am Glad you acknowledge that God did demand the taking from one person to give to the group. I am not surprised you wish to bargain with God over the amount.

Give me a break. I could care less if you are a Jew. It would prove nothing. I would point out however that you appear to be attempting to tell Christians about Christianity.

I went to a Catholic school I know the New testament rather well.

The demand by God to leave crops

Its about not gleaning. Rather different.

Agreed; both parties are dominated by very similar Neo-Liberal ideologies. While debate between the outliers of both parties can productive, name calling is not, and instead of issuing ad hominems we should focus on cooperation in areas where we are either close to or in agreement.

Certainly. We agree. I'm not used to this dynamic. What do we talk about now :?: .

It is not likely that we will see much cooperation in the prevailing atmosphere but wouldn't it be nice if our congress people actually got together and tried to build upon common areas in good faith rather that issuing inflamitory political statements, passing stupid bills certain to go nowhere and endlessly manovoring for political advantage. After a few baby steps they might even learn how to work together and (OHMYGWAD!! ) actually get to like each other.

After all, they are paid to actually get things done. And, Lord knows, there is plenty to get done.

Religous beliefs do not define someone's political beliefs. There are liberals who are very christian. If you actually read the new testament jesus comes off as very liberal. But since when does a conservative read or rely on something like facts.

Exactly, we have a strong point to be made that Jesus Christ was by principle an Anarchist. The comparisons are endless in that regard.

I suppose someone like the extremist "talking to God directly" Michele Bachmann is the ultimate true conservative. Yet, the irony is she is someone that our founding fathers and constitution arguably never wanted elected and hold public office. If the holy bible is the foundation of true conservatism I will never vote for a neo-con during this day and age. They prey on ONE ISSUE voters, lack substance, detail, and are down right radical at times.
