Hi, recently i have serious worry about people in korea.

There is political scandal called "Choi-gate"

I disapointed about president and othere high-ranking officials and many people are going to impeachment meeting in seoul.

today, i read a comment on news.

it says _
i went to impeachment meeting with my 6 years old son and he shout out "retire!! president!!" i liked what he was doing and i gave him present for it.

he got 30 agrees from other people and there was no disagree about his comment.

i understand the president made big mistake and she should retire.

but i felt "people are encouraging 6years old child to say that? is it good education or bad aducation?"

30 agrees!!! and no one said it is wrong.

i want to ask your opinion if i think too much..

thank you for reading.

Corruption and cronyism are natural to all tribal societies. Bribes fuel the economy and cronyism is the glue that holds the paternalistic tribal society together. Bribes can be beneficial if they are plowed back into the domestic economy. The problem starts with industrialization, which will generate greater profits that end up in off-shore tax havens.

I used to do business in Korea in the 80s and 90s. Compared to those days, Korea isn't very corrupt today. Yet Korea still is not a completely modern society. Tribalism is strongly present in political factions and the Chaebols. And Korea has always been a very paternalistic society. But as you become a modern society, you'll have to fight corruption at all levels. Corruption is a socioeconomic problem beyond the power of the individual.

He is your son. Talk to him. Who are the 'people' encouraging him? As a parent, you might want to have a talk with them.

Gotta catch 'em young, kim.kevin. I'm currently trying to train my 8 year old nephew to give the Communist salute and proclaim, "All hail the great Comrade Stalin, gentle Father of Nations!" in front of a framed photograph of Generalissimo Stalin. So far, it's going well. :)

actually it is glad to see people can freely say about poitics on public place

(1960s to 1980s, south korea was very strict to people who talk about president)

I just worry if it will gives 6-years old child good lesson about democracy

or

it gives him bad effect because he does not understand about media and
crowd mind effect yet.

President Park is the victim of a North Korean plot to overthrow the pro-Japanese government which signed the comfort women agreement with Japan. There is so much North Korean influence in South Korea that the vast majority of protesters are Communist sympathisers organised by socialist parties. I also noticed that the OP is the same person who started the thread "white guilt" as kateman.

Y'know when you develop a habit of posting an exert of whatever source you are parating it becomes very noticeable when there is no attempt to back up your assertions.

They call their gatherings the “Taegeukgi Rally,” after the South Korean flag. They say their flags represent a growing fire, the true fire of patriotism and democracy, countering the supposedly ill-conceived fire of the candlelight rallies. They say most of the anti-Park protesters are disruptive communists, or naive young people who don’t know any better. They believe the disgraced president Park Geun-hye should return to office.

The Korean Council (Chong Dae Hyup), the largest comfort women group in South Korea, has ties to North Korea which has an identical group that works closely with its South Korean branch because it's a wedge issue that North Korea can exploit. This is not a groundless speculation as it has been reported by CNN.

Unfortunately, North Korea appears intent on using this issue to drive a wedge between America's two most important allies in Asia.

In the wake of the agreement, the North Korean government described the deal as "humiliating." Meanwhile, Chong Dae Hyup, a prominent organization believed to have ties to North Korea, has used the agreement to rally nationalist sentiment in South Korea against Japan.

It is hardly a surprise that North Korea has been perhaps the loudest voice opposing the bilateral agreement. The North Korean regime has long been desperate to deflect attention away from its own abysmal record on human rights.

However, it was deeply concerning to see some prominent Korean-American organizations articulating a similar message as the North Korean propaganda machine when they called on President Barack Obama to fire Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken in a Change.org petition protesting the agreement. (Most Korean-American organizations actually strongly support the agreement).
