‘Quantum teleportation’ breakthrough by DARPA-funded physicists
However, the breakthrough doesn’t mean that sci fi-style human teleportation is any closer as the photons aren’t actually disappearing from one place and appearing in another.

Instead, it’s the information that’s being teleported through a phenomenon called ‘quantum entanglement’, which Albert Einstein called “spooky action at a distance”.

According to the strange world of quantum mechanics some particles can be ‘entangled’ meaning that what happens to one particle will immediately affect the other, no matter how far apart they are.

Hey RT, great post! It's crazy to think about how quantum teleportation may be used to support an entirely new internet. As quantum computers evolve (think D-wave), they will need some kind of quantum infrastructure to securely share data. This technology will reshape our communications technology, and once we miniaturize quantum computing the surveillance state will be able to break the old infrastructure's encryption. Plus, the internet of things will create demand for a faster and more secure internet, I suppose quantum teleportation will help build the quantum internet. But to be fair, this technology would be essential for the Panopticon's architecture... which is kinda scary.

What's your opinion, do you think this kind of technology will be withheld from the general public, like ARPANET (DARPA-net) during the late 60s, 70s, 80s etc? Since online encryption is one national security detail.

BTW, you may enjoy this article: D-Wave will ship a 2,000-qubit quantum computer next year

Forget PCs and servers: D-Wave Systems is looking into the future with its quantum computer, up to 1,000 times faster than an earlier model.

The company will start shipping a quantum computer with 2,000 qubits, twice the size of its current 1,000-qubit D-Wave 2X. The D-Wave 2X is considered one of the most advanced computers in the world today.

The 2,000-qubit quantum computer will be 500 to 1000 times faster than its predecessor, said Jeremy Hilton, senior vice president of systems at D-Wave.

An even larger quantum computer based on a whole new processor design will come out two to three years after that, Hilton said.

Today's PCs and servers could ultimately be replaced by a quantum computer, which has been researched for decades. Beyond D-Wave, companies like IBM are also building quantum computers.

Thanks for posting interesting material, it's refreshing. As for the drone article you slipped in, I'm not surprised  We need more eyes in the sky.

Sure, maybe you'll use it for that... But this will increase the processing power of the surveillance state. Plus, think about the information divide this will create if this technology remains expensive and inaccessible to the general public.

Oh, no shit, thank you Igor...
