Apparently, Google tries to apply some kind of filter, perhaps even proactive, to make the output seems changed. Duckduckgo seems giving out things simply by relevance.
I can't say who is better. If thought in a good way, Google's method can filter away wannabe manipulators who deliberately spread false or sensational "information". However, this can also make Google be the said manipulator.
I surely don't think manipulation is done by only one side.

O Lord our God arise,
Scatter His enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God, save us all!
Scatter His enemies
And make them fall;
Confound their politics,
Frustrate their knavish tricks,
On Thee our hopes we fix,
God, save us all!
