I used to attend a Hindu temple on Sunday for worship and chanting. They used the conch in the chanting. In fact, I was asked to be the one who blows the conch. It is symbolic of Krishna's use of the conch. Buddhism, being a "derivative" of Hinduism, also employs the conch.
