Many people naturally think that since stars are billions of light-years away this is an obvious refutation to the young Earth creation view.

Dr. Russell Humphreys, along with Dr. John Baumgardner, eaplain a creation cosmology, first described in the "Starlight and Time" book and video, having a basis in scripture and Einstein's theory of relativity to explain how distant starlight could reach the earth from the depths of space during the six days of creation week.

Since some stars are billions of light years away, it seems foolish to believe that the universe is only 6.000 years old. This is a problem for biblical creationists and it is a huge public relations problem since it is easy for moderately educated people to understand the problem and what it means in regard to the age of the Universe.

In recent years creation cosmologists have been thinking about how to solve the problem. Several of them have come up with testable hypotheses. Dr. Humphreys has a scientifically realistic solution to the problem. His PhD is in physics from Louisiana State University in 1972. He has worked for General Electric and Sandia National Laboratories in nuclear physics.

As a tip, when you go for science, do it for the sake of science and for the sake of knowledge.
God will reveal hemself through it for those who wish to see.

For the topic. If you may give me a summary of whats in the videos??

It is basically a discussion of a scientific theory supporting Biblical creation making it possible for Adam and Eve to see light from the stars during the first week of creation while knowing that the stars are so far away from earth today.

Here is a reference to a small article you can read that may help:

Here is another:

Two things are believed (with experimental support) to distort time in relativity theory - one is speed and the other is gravity. Einstein’s general theory of relativity, the best theory of gravity we have at present, indicates that gravity distorts time.

This effect has been measured experimentally, many times. Clocks at the top of tall buildings, where gravity is slightly less, run faster than those at the bottom, just as predicted by the equations of general relativity.

When a concentration of matter is very large (dense enough), the gravitational distortion can also be so immense that any light rays trying to escape the enormous pull of gravity bend back on themselves. This lack of escaping light rays forms an invisible boundary called the “event horizon” around the matter. At the event horizon, time literally stands still.

Dr. Humphreys’ new creationist cosmology assumes that the Earth is near the center of the universe and the universe has an edge beyond which there was no more matter. If the universe has boundaries, then there is a net gravitational effect toward the center. Clocks at the edge would be running at different rates to clocks on the Earth.

Dr. Humphreys points out that the scriptures say many times that God stretched or spread out the heavens. His theory states this stretching began during the creation week, so the original location of the stars were closer to our solar system when first created and the stretching of space moved them further away. This might have allowed Adam and Eve to see all the stars before they were moved out with the stretching of the heavens.

He acknowledges that his theory may not be correct, but it is a possiblity that deserves more study.
