Well, they say 'no publicity is bad publicity'.

Eminem hasn't been the most relevant for a while, and this has got him back in the News. I'm sure that millions listened to his song, where he says he's 'drawing a line in the sand', and all of that.

Not that I think it's all a ploy to engineer some notoriety, although anytime a celebrity does something which does increase their notoriety there may be at least an aspect of this at play, with respect to considerations.

It may be a marketing strategy indeed, I wonder whether he expected a response from Trump. As far as I know the president hasn't responded yet. He could tweet "Eminem's such a lightweight" - that would be appropriate and presidential, I guess.

I'm guessing it's from the heart, but also that he is fully aware of the effect of publicity.

FFS, this guy made his career on courting controversy.

I don't think he calculated much when he decided to bash Trump. It's fully consistent with his public profile/image anyway, isn't it? So I don't really understand how Trumpites were/are his fans.

Give me a break, he bashed Trump in a studio-produced music video.

You are telling me that is not calculated, huh? Ok, whatever you say.

I'm not saying it was spontaneous, however, I don't think he cared a lot about the consequences. It was something that could be expected from him anyway.

He's artist, and it was his artistic expression.

Basically I said the same thing as you just did, but I also tried to include the realism which is that the video was itself a commercial publication, and the whole point is for people to watch it, so every time it's mentioned anywhere, including here, it is for his benefit.

Sorry to pop your bubble.

I think you popped Hong Wu's bubble rather than mine. In my opinion Eminem is instinctive/intuitive, not rational, he's an artist rather than a businessman. He knows how showbiz works exactly though, of course.

I think the issue isn't criticizing Trump, is just criticizing Trump and leaving Hilary of the hook. If Eminem criticized having Trump and Hilary as options and after that made whatever critic towards Trump people would accept it. The issue is , as horrible as Trump is any rational person easily concludes he is better than Hilary.

When Eminem released "Revival" in December, it was also full of attacks on President Trump and he clearly found new inspiration for his music from the Trump presidency. Most rap music fans are not Trump supporters in the first place and he doesn't have to worry about losing his fans. About half of Trump voters are between 45 and 64 years of age, with another 34 percent over 65 years old and less than 2 percent younger than 30, which is the age group with rap music fans.

You missed the bracket between 30 and 45, maybe they left Eminem for Trump.

BUAHAHAHAH You hadn't mentioned Hillary yet, so he had to! PATHETIC.

Also, No. Only a moronic Trumpanzee could come to the conclusion that Clinton was worse.

Eminem's right on the mark. Dolt 45 is a menace.

White rapper is odd concept. It's like a white crow. He sees things as a socialist as wannabe and not as black. The black quite adores him

Rappers love Donald Trump.

Despite his many controversial stances in his presidential campaign platform, his name is synonymous with extreme wealth in the hip-hop world. Since the 1980s, rappers have mentioned Trump in their lyrics — in some cases have named entire songs after him.

Many rappers have praised his wealth, comparing their finances and fiscal aspirations to that of the multibillion dollar business mogul.

“I buy cars with straight cash, have meetings with Donald Trump,” said rapper Ludacris in his 2003 song, “Hip Hop Quotables.”

But it doesn’t stop there.

“Trump is 90s hip-hop all day,” Comedian Mike Yard told host Larry Wilmore in a July episode of “The Nightly Show.”

Yard pointed out that Trump loves gold, has his own vodka and pulls “gangsta” moves like publicly giving out a U.S. Senator’s phone number.

“He’s like the 50 Cent of the Republican party,” Yard said. “All he needs is to get shot nine times and he’s golden.”

Since Trump has yet to drop a mixtape, we’ve compiled 67 hip-hop songs over the last 25 years that mention the mogul’s name in the video above.

Enjoy!
