While academics, professional organizations, artists, and individuals in the European Union (EU) are getting behind the movement to boycott, divest, and sanction (BDS) Israel as a peaceful strategy to protest the treatment of Palestinian-Israelis, and the brutal occupation of seized territories in 1967, the Israelis have concentrated on using their diplomatic efforts to ensure that, under threat of being labeled anti-Semitic, national governments, like the English Tories, and the EU Council will remain on the side of Israel. Perhaps as an indication that BDS is proving effective, however, Israel's Internal Security Minister, Zionist Gilad Erdan, vocal critic of Maj. Gen. Herzl Halevi, plans to enter the fight against the anti-Israeli boycott with his plan to appoint 10 anti-BDS coordinators to central embassies around the world.

It looks like BDS is the way to go.

Well, it is if you're an Israeli Bureaucrat hoping to expand your authority and your budget anyway ...

BDS against Bahrain? BDS against Qatar. BDS against Turkey for its disgraceful treatment of its Kurds? BDS against Pakistan?

BDS against Saudi Arabia? Hell no, Saudi Arabia's human rights record is so good that we invite them on the Charlie Hebdo march and put them at the head of the Human rights council. Do the leftie Muslim lovers give a fuck? Hell no lets continually scape goat Israel whose Arab citizens are treated better than most States run by Arabs.

Jews in Iraq under Hussein received a degree of protection. But you have kind of a point. Israel is no worse than many countries, including the US. There is an underlying emotional pull at work that is connected to traditional European antisemitism. The same hysteria, inverted, forms the basis of the GOP's worship of Netanyahu.

1. Why do people oppose non-violent movements against an apartheid state?

2. Are you endorsing violent resistance instead?

3. Are Jewish groups who endorse BDS also antisemitic?

4. Are you all just being massive babies because BDS is actually effective?

(I go with the 4th option. )

In related news, activists began Israel Apartheid Week in London by placing ads exposing Israeli oppression on the London underground trains, to Israel's fury. Link.

Those Underground posters are quite brilliant and tell the truth which is denied to the British public. London Transport, which receives money from the national government, was incensed and had them removed without delay. The momentum would appear to be with BDS.

More like disinformation. Clouding discourse is much more effective for controlling the popular narrative than simply trying to keep people from ever hearing about contrary ideas (especially in this information age).
