The Palestinian society is sick. Years of glorification of violence has its toll

Youth stabs 6-month-old baby in Ramallah-area nursery

RAMALLAH (Ma'an) -- A six-month-old Palestinian infant was critically wounded after being stabbed by a youth who entered a nursery in Beituniya in western Ramallah on Tuesday.

Palestinian police spokesman, Luay Irzeiqat, told Ma'an that a youth entered an unlicensed nursery where 11 infants were held, assaulted a baby girl with a sharp object, critically injuring her.

The baby was transferred to a hospital for medical treatment while the police detained the suspect for interrogation.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health said medical teams at the Palestine Medical Center succeeded in saving the life of the infant, who was injured with a deep wound from ear to ear.

The infant was in stable condition, the ministry added.

When a 3 year old kills a mother with a gun, in the USA, do you call the society sick, or not?

Years of glorification of violence has its toll.

USA! USA! USA!

I'm in quasi-agreement with Pongo.

This is a six year old kid who entered an unlicensed nursery and assaulted an unrelated infant. This sounds more like that serial killer kid from India, than a toddler playing with a gun and accidentally shooting his/her own mother.

Anyway, we'll need more information. Why did the kid enter the nursery? Was he part of the household in which this unlicensed nursery was hosted perchance?

Oops, My mistake! I misread, likely in haste. No 6 year old!
Nothing to see here. Move along.

Anyways, you get disturbed youths all over the world, and not just in Palestine. Pretending this behavior is limited to Palestine and caused by conditions there, is rubbish. Teenagers are almost all sociopaths.

Edit:

After looking for this story online via a news search engine, I have come up with nothing but the one source in the OP. On a few different searches the second story that was posted after the one in the OP, was the story of an 8-month-old baby who died because of the IDF's use of teargas in the occupied West Bank.

Another story that keeps coming up is that of the 18-month old baby who was killed in an arson attack in the occupied West Bank by Israel settlers, (which also killed the baby's parents).

If the story in the OP was true, it would be all over Israeli media at a minimum.

This story appears to be bs.

No, it's uniquely Palestinian culture

False. You are merely trying to demonize Palestinians, when this is clearly not related to their culture, or Western culture is very similar. You seem to think this doesn't happen in America, or the West? You are clearly biased.

The difference is very little. Of course you are going to have some nutjobs who are going to do this, when they are raising their kids in a virtual prison camp. This is not the norm, I'll bet, however.

Usually in journalism a second source is required to verify a news story and I've found nothing else. Let me know if you do.

Israeli media would eat up anything that demonizes Palestinians as you well know. That this story isn't reported anywhere in Israeli media (or Western MSM) suggests it's BS.

But that's not to say this type of thing couldn't happen. Although it'd make more sense if it was a Palestinian kid who attacked an Israeli baby (motive being frustration/revenge because of living under occupation and/or imprisonment). Or an Israeli/settler attacking a Palestinian baby (motive being racism towards the natives with the view that god owes the land to him and not the native he attacked).

Haaretz wouldn't 'eat up' such articles, they know better But yes the right-wing tabloids & broadcasters would just whip it up.

But it's the broader society and social outcomes that should concern us. The growing religiosity, hostility towards democracy in favour of 'strong leadership' (i.e. dictatorship) and opposition to peace with the stateless Palestinians and the use of military force in foreign policy.
