Following an agreement reached before the vote, Bennett, who along with other stridently pro-settler politicians has been emboldened by the election of Donald Trump as president, signalled that he believed the vote should mark the final end of the two-state solution. Bennett described the agreement and planned vote as a “historic day” on which the two-state solution had been buried.

“Today, the Israeli Knesset shifted from a path to establish a Palestinian state to a path of extending sovereignty to Judea and Samaria [as Israel calls the occupied Palestinian territories]. Let there be no doubt: the regulation bill is what will spearhead the extension of [Israeli] sovereignty.”

Bennet (of of the main drivers) is saying it will lead to the annexation of most of the west bank.

"This is a hisoric day in the Knesset, which went from establishing a Palestinian state to Israeli sovereignty in Judea and Samaria. Have no doubt: The settlement bill is leading the way to annexation," Bennett stated.

The Two state solution has been dead and floating face down in the water for some time. It still receives some lip service around the world, but that is been slipping away, and with Donald Trump one suspects US support for the two state solution even inline service may well be a thing of the past. I mean Kerry mouthing some things but really why would anyone listen to him now,

Fairly Ultra Nationalist sentiment seems to be in charge of the Keenest (though my understanding of the exact in outs of Israeli politics is sketchy at best, anyone feel free to inform me )

With these sorts of decisions, a US which seems to mo longer care, It;s hard not to see the settlement movement gathering strength and expanding as much as it can and it;s hard to that either the US or Europe is really going to care that much.

The Palestinian Authority has been fairly pathetic for most of it existence, (yeah it's not had much room to move, had some shitty choices, collaborate with Israelis and slowly be strangled letting the extremists in Palestinian society grow, or make ineffectual protests be popular at home, but Israel pressure like turning off the revenue which is all collected bytes Israel as border excises is really the sole source of money other than international funding. Israel has done the PA no favours and undercut it at almost every stage, but the PA has had poor leadership throughout)

And the with the Middle East a tough region in the 20th century looking more so and massive unstable in the early 21st it's easy to see why establishing a real Palestinian state is not a popular vote winner in Israel.

It's hard to see much more than a creeping annexation punctually by futile protests, the occasional uprising, bloodily suppressed.
