The problem is not the homeless but the system that causes homelessness.
Billions spent on the military should be used to build social housing.
Million homes would be 10 percent of the military annual spending.
Providing employment as well.
Unfortunately thats a bit like socialism for many Americans.

Yup. Context makes it even harder to believe this came out of the mouth of a Republican:
President.
Every gun that is made, every warship launched, every rocket fired signifies, in the final sense, a theft from those who hunger and are not fed, those who are cold and are not clothed.

This world in arms is not spending money alone. It is spending the sweat of its laborers, the genius of its scientists, the hopes of its children.

The cost of one modern heavy bomber is this: a modern brick school in more than 30 cities. It is two electric power plants, each serving a town of 60,000 population. It is two fine, fully equipped hospitals...

We pay for a single destroyer with new homes that could have housed more than 8,000 people. . . . This is not a way of life at all, in any true sense.

Under the cloud of threatening war, it is humanity hanging from a cross of iron.

The US relies on having an impoverished segment of the population. It is how America plans to remain competitive against developing nations. We are intentionally creating a developing nation within the US to serve the developed/priviledged portion of the US. This means that in the future, rather than having to exploit the people of other poorer nations, we only have to exploit our own.

Isn't that more desirable in your eyes? This is one way to stop the US from meddling in other nations.

Oh no we have to spend 150 million dollars on building private villas for top pentagon officials in Afghanistan, Oh no we have to spend 4.6 million on lobster dinners for troops... oh no we have to spend 2.7 billion on an experimental spy zeppelin that doesn't work... Oh no we have to spend 35.6 billion on an experimental aircraft that keeps killing its passengers and has lees than a 30% functioning fleet...

Repeat ad nauseum...
